<quoted text>Thats so cool....kinda like the urban gardens, they are doing in the empty lots, in large citys.....but, a share of a farm, is much fresher, eh?....years ago, in Germany, they have these areas outta the large citys, where the city dwellers each get a patch, like 20 X 20, wher they can grow veggies or flowers, some have little troll like sheds, where they come and picnic, during the weekend....BTW, have missed you, as i remember we talked years ago about Shipshewana pies...lol...wish this thread did better...seems most wanna bitch about the economy and politics, yet don't care about saving on food...go figure....
Good talking to you too! I am always really interested in the best way to eat, both health wise and economically. I try really hard to eat well though. I have family members who live on tuna and bread to save money and I am determined to put great things in my family's mouths. It's a delicate balance for sure. The cheapest food is the worst for you...so we have learned a few tricks along the way, and we have been blessed with some nice opportunities through family too.

Seems like a sad commentary, that tho everyone on this forum complains about the current administration and how awful the economy is.....but, when it truly comes down to a subject, like saving money on groceries....they have nothing to offer........makes me think, maybe things aren't really so bad.....

Heading up north to help process our chicken for the year! My folks raised 100 birds for the family and now it's time to respectfully process and package them. Gonna be a busy weekend of pulling pin feathers, making pot pies, vacuum sealing, and canning veggies from the garden. Wish me luck!

That sound's great...Good Luck...When i was a kid, my Grampa in Grand Haven used to do the same thing with ducks. He had a pond and eventually we would corral all the ducks into a smaller and smaller circle with flexible fencing, then harvest them...Good Times....

I think Barack has the best idea for saving money on groceries: Charge all the rich people, who are working, double for their groceries; then give all the poor people, who don't want to work, free groceries! That seems only fair. We all have a right to eat.

Best find by my wife, a great cook....Buitoni noodles...the refrigerated noodles, usually by the cheese and lunchmeats, at the grocery.....she can take them, and add some shrimp, olive oil, basil, all stir-fried up with some garlic....and i don't know, what the Roman's called the food of the God's.....but, this is close.....
