I hope they also have a paragraph in this bill that a school counselor or any staff member cannot blame the victim and tell them they should get counseling because they are being bullied. The counseling should be mandated for the bully along with their parents who seem to think it is no big deal.

At present there is an anti-bullying state law on the books. It basically says that it is up to the school district to insure that they address this issue at the local level. As with most laws, the closer to the source of the problem, the better the law is.

This law is a boondoggle of forms, follow-ups, and more paperwork to document what was or was not done.

The legislation will cause there to be a Department of Anti-Bullying within the Department of Education. It also will require it to be staffed with highly paid, union dues paying minions who will shuffle papers from here to eternity.

The law will also require an extensive amount of paper shuffling on the part of every individual school district. Additional paper shufflers to be hired, and additional union dues to be paid.

It is a full employment bill for Education Minnesota - and another ruse to scam the tax payers of Minnesota out of more hard earned income.

And the best part is that it will do nothing to prevent kids from being kids.

Way to go DFL! More taxes. More union members. More government waste.

20 million? Where are they getting the money and exactly on what are they spending it? Here's an anti-bullying program:"... knock it off and get to class. If you keep it up, you're out of here for good."
