BUSTED! WIVB running the story again, but more sensationalistic.
Why doesn't WIVB run a story about how much taxpayers spend on a failed drug war?

Legalize and tax marijuana; then we can close many of our overcrowded prisons, filled largely with non-violent drug offenders!

This is a no-brainer people; we would not only gain a source of tax revenue, but we would save 10's of millions of dollars a year by closing unused prisons!!!

These people need to be in prison cause they annoy me. I dont mind the dryg deals its the losers who use them i hate. The drug dealers who dont use are just trying to make a buck or two.

No doubt about it, any kind of addiction (drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex, work, etc.) is a weakness and the addicts are pathetic, but prison is not the answer for non-violent offenders.

just had notification from my company to disclose if I smoke tobacco, to lower health care costs! My response was when they do drug testing , and ask about alcohol use, I'll give them that information. It is no of their business, unless they get the WHOLE picture of your lifestyle.

I have heard this mantra before about how all these people in jail are non-violent felons. However, when I talked to some corrections officers I know they laugh when I mention when they hear that the jails are filled with victims of the war on drugs. It is true under some "very" limited federal sentences send some people are sent to federal prison for a sale of drugs. The feds don't take these cases unless there is a large amount of drugs. That means the "dealer" is usually handled at the local "revolving door" court system.

Grow a little grass, get a felony. Go molest little kids and walk in a month or so... And why do I have to pee in a cup to get a good job and pay taxes for those on welfare that DO NOT have to pass a drug test to get this free money that I pay into??? There are issues with modern laws for sure and marijuana is not as evil as that make it to be. My ex was very ill and the docs where killing her with oxycontin while weed would help her pain better.

That is about the dumbest post I have ever seen! Make a buck or two, carry firearms, create death and violence from unpaid debts, yea the dealers are always class acts moron. Looking at your grammar I would bet you walk around with that look without any need for drugs! Not too mention very few dealers sell only pot, so heroin, coke, lsd, and all the hard drugs are fine for them to sell too, right? Pffft!

Good points. How about all public employees having piss tests. Police and Teachers maybe.

Nice bust, I guess we ARE winning the "drug War".

If what you and your prison guard friends say is true, then you should not be opposed to legalizing marijuana, since it will have absolutely no effect upon their jobs (supposedly-according to you and the guards) and the cost to taxpayers should decrease, if anything, but there would also be the nice added revenue generated from taxing sales of marijuana.

Obviously, you have never met or dealt with a "pill head" or a drug addict. If you did your homework 45% of the drug addicts have been convicted oif a non drug related crime. ie. grand larcency, check fraud, armed robbery etc. Let's tax them too. How about the home invaders or murderers. Higher tax bracket. Lest we forget child molesters and rapists. What an ignorant idiot.

Let's stick to the subject, legalization of marijuana (only). Also, if marijuana and other drugs were legalized they would plunge in street value, therefore negating the need by addicts to commit crimes to gain money for their habit, also eliminating violent street gangs centered around selling expensive "currently illegal drugs." If everyone could grow marijuana and opium they would be virtually free, just like growing your own tomatoes.
