I don't use the thruway anyway. Why pay to get stuck in traffic on an inferior road surface that wastes gas by taking a much longer route to wherever i need to go.............

I don't think the thruway authority should raise the tolls. I will travel the main roads, not the thruway, if the tolls are raised. I also think the thruway authority should be responsible for the canal system. We are boaters and pay state sales taxes for the gas to use our boat that can not be used on the roasways and we also pay a user fee to use the waterways. N.Y. is tax happy and it time for them to think of the tax payers andwhy people are leaving N.Y. State and not their wallets.

Time to clean house at the Thruway Authority. Its pathetic that the Republican Assemblymembers are asking the public what to do - they should be asking the questions of their political patronage appointees to the plum jobs at the Thruway Authority! Start cleaning house at the top with the Executive Director who found the time to go to law school out-of-state while supposedly heading the Thruway Authority.

Not raising the tolls, or eliminating them would make everyone cheer and give the politicians a great photo op. However, that money has to come from somewhere. You don't think the state gov't would actually cut spending to offset the lost toll revenue??? They are addicts and our money is their drug of choice!!! This "hearing" is feel-good exercise designed to make us think they are doing something when nothing will really come of it.

The Thruway commission should be thrown in jail for ripping off the public. They are all a bunch of political criminals.

The purpose of this public hearing is to let us vent and then they tell us the tolls are going up anyways..........

The Republican Assemblymembers have no power. What a joke! Quinn, Hayes, Cole haven't been able to accomplish anything for WNY. They need to go!

Any government run program/authority etc... is an extension of our "PUBLIC SERVANTS" whims.
Always remember the real definition of a politician (aka public servant): many blood sucking ticks.
You don't have to guess whose blood they suck. Honest & hardworking taxpayers.
The hardly working elected/appointed royalty called public servants are laughing all the way to their banks in Switzerland.

The Republicans are holding the meeting but I don't see where the Thruway Authority is going to be there to field questions. Nothing is going to be accomplished at this meeting except that part where the Republicans are going to gather the questions from the people and pass on the questions on to the Authoriy so that the Authority can answer them and the Republicans will use this opportunity to look like their the good guys.
If the real intent was to get answers for the people then why aren't the Democrats and the Thruway Authority at this meeting as well? Aren't they part of the assembly and problem?
I only see a circus set up to apease the masses with one third of the performers present and the other two thirds uninvited.
I do't see the "Hillary & Chuck Show" doing anything. So maybe the Publicans are the GOOD GUYS.Try it ,you may like it.

In 2005 the toll hike was described as one being 25%. If a toll is 50 cents, that means 25% of 50 cents is 12.5 cents. How does going from 50 cents to 75 cents represent 25%? That's equal to a 50% increase! In 2008, what will they decide 10% represents?

I saw a road crew the other day on the Thruway. One guy with a backhoe was digging holes about 3' deep and 5' in diameter. Another guy was driving behind him with a tractor pushing the dirt back into the holes. This didn't make any sense so I asked them what they were doing. They told me they were planting trees but the guy who puts the trees in the holes called in sick.

Why should we pay tolls when other states don't have to and still maintain their roads? What about the people who have to cross those tolls every day for work? They are being continually raped day in and day out by the thruway authority! We pay enough in taxes in this state that they can maintain the roads regardless! Don't these idiots see that the more they raise tolls, the more people will seek alternative roadways, which results in even LESS revenue? Get rid of this rediculous tax, OR save money by using machines to take and make change. You will save millions in unused pay and benefits! Wise up NY!

Of course I did but it's not all that far from the truth when you look at some of the things unions are behind.
