The Republicans are holding the meeting but I don't see where the Thruway Authority is going to be there to field questions. Nothing is going to be accomplished at this meeting except that part where the Republicans are going to gather the questions from the people and pass on the questions on to the Authoriy so that the Authority can answer them and the Republicans will use this opportunity to look like their the good guys.

If the real intent was to get answers for the people then why aren't the Democrats and the Thruway Authority at this meeting as well? Aren't they part of the assembly and problem?

I only see a circus set up to apease the masses with one third of the performers present and the other two thirds uninvited.

The Authority is just going to come up with more excuses as to why it "needs" to raise tolls. Of course, maybe if the state legislature removed from the Authority responsibility for the canal system that would take away one significant excuse. Does anyone even use the canals for commercial traffic anymore?

As the rest of the country moves forward we her in western NY still are do buisiness as we did 50 years ago. If the thruway authority can't run a buisiness maybe they should all be fired just like in the real world.

Since I must commute 15 miles each way to work and back each day, I am forced to use the Thruway. Luckily, I don't have to pay tolls on the stretch I use. My question is that since there are no lights on the Thruway, why can't the Authority at least have the decency to make sure the lane lines are freshly painted with reflective paint each year? When it is rainy and dark, it is nearly impossible to see where the lanes are. Next to drivers who switch lanes without signaling and insist on tailgating and not allowing for proper distance between cars, this is my biggest pet peeve.

This goes for the rest of the roads in Erie County. I was on the 33 the other night traveling home from work and it was pouring out, there was a long stretch of road where the lights weren't turned on and the lanes weren't properly painted. It made for a nightmarish ride home. For all the taxes we must pay each year, some paint is not asking too much.

If everyone would just boycott using the thruway for a week, and use regular roads and show the TA that we don't need nor want them they might get the idea. Myself I haven't used the thruway in over a year now just because I am sick of the tolls. Sure using the thruway would cut some time off of my drive to work, but I refuse! Until everyone in our community can stand together for what we want and hold people accountable then nothing will change. Everyone is high on a subject for a couple of months then it is pushed to the side. Look at people wanting to recall King Joel, havent heard too many pushing this to be included in our charter with any politician anymore. Loss of services was a big deal, perks for workers, county cars, cell phone and a number of other things, but most have forgotten and things are back to status quo again. So, all of us have to write letters, call our local politicians, bug them and make them understand that they need to listen or loose a lot of votes and we have to keep doing it, til then we get nothing done!

You have to realize that before we get lines painted the city, county, state and federal employees have to get their pay raises, overtime, health benefits, retirement, the unions have their hand out. Where do you think they are going to get money to pay for lines?

A public hearing...does anybody really believe they actually will listen? Those things are as useless as petitions. It's just an exercise to keep us busy while they push their own agenda.

Its all a big rip-off. Maybe the toll collecters want per diem now for their lunches, or better shoes to stand in while they hold their hands out taking our money.

The Thruway Authority needs to take a 25% pay decrease starting with the fat cats on top. Then they would have all the money they need for the real repairs and upkeep. There isn't one of them that deserves the money they steal from us.

The Thruway Authority needs to contract out thruway work including toll collections.

Thruway tolls should go only to thruway projects.

Erie Canal fees should be increased to cover Erie Canal costs.(sorry yacht owners!)

Thruway and Canal monies should not be comingled.

Let's take the average in salary and benefits for everyone in WNY who has a job collecting money and handing out receipts. That would be an ideal package for toll collectors. It would also be less than a third of what they are getting now but that's what the taxpayers can afford. If our government makes this area conducive to business and everyone wants to come here then salaries for everyone will go up. If the government continues to leech off everyone then all the people will leave and nobody will come here to replace them.

We pay higher gas than the national average. I can barely fuel my car to get to work. Just goes to show you the incensivity of those making this proposal.
The thruway Depew exit charges 15 cents. I don't use it because I am not going to pay the toll to go shopping there. I either shop elsewhere or I take the streets. If they raise it we all should consider doing the same.
I agree about the signs and street divisions needing paint. I personally called the TA supervisors 4 years ago about 2 problem areas and nothing was done so why should we believe any of our comments will be noted? meeting be

The # of toll takers can be dramatically decreased by more ez pass lanes, and adding vending machines to sell tickets to get on thruway. You could buy a ticket for any $ amount before getting on thruway, pass through a machine as you enter and leave. I'm sure the technology and return on investment is there.....
I'm baffled why we have so many toll takers who are obsolete and overpaid.
Let the authority contract more road repair services to the private sector. As a farmer and small business owner, I'm disgusted as I drive by 20 men, with 2 working !

I drove through the east side of Buffalo and saw 20,000 men and none of them are working. In fact most of them have never worked......
