Happened to me several times when I lived in WNY. EZ Pass' own records showed that I had successfully passed through the Ripley toll booth, when another charge (only 14 minutes later) shows I went through the Amherst toll booth. Do the math - you can't POSSIBLY drive that fast! Think of how many of those passes are out there, especially commercial accounts, that have errors that could be corrected. They should be audited.

Ez-Pass, like the Thruway Authority is arrogant. Try dealing with their so-called "customer service".

Eventually the Thruway Authority will be disbanded because the volume of traffic will be incapable of sustaining it.

It will then revert to a free use road supported by all those who pay a sales tax on new cars and trucks bought in New York State. They will also increase the gas tax by $1.00 per gas tank fill-up to help pay for the thruway.

The FATCATS will be looking for work elsewhere.

They should change to the scanner system McDONALDS uses and stop ripping off the public.

Why is it on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, they have EZ-Pass lanes that you can drive through at 55-65 MPH.? Why cant we have those here? I drive through at the higher speed (20mph) ones and still have to go <10mph to get it to turn green.

I think NYS was sold the rejects or refurbs from the factory.

It is also B.S. that they charge a $1 / month fee for the convienence of having an EZ pass. Some months, I pay more in this fee than I do in tolls....

If we had 55 MPH EZ-Pass lanes, how could EZ-Pass charge you an excessive speed fine for roaring thru at 15 MPH? It's MORE FUN to slow way down and get rear ended by the inattentive nose picking, media center adjusting, cell phone user in the SUV behind you...

Hey Ray;
I just went over all my billing cycles with the EZ-pass and I haven't ever been charged an extra dollar every month as an administration fee or any fee for that matter. I have only been charged for the tolls that I have incurred on the Thruway. So where is this fee that you seem to have been charged monthly?

It costs me .68 cents to go through the tolls on Grand Island each way using the EZ-pass. That's $27.20 monthly to cross G.I. or $326.40 yearly. That's an extra car payment for me so yes I'd like to see the tolls go. At least I could better feed and clothe my kids. Every little bit counts.

I think they don't make the tolls 50mph (for ezpass) because it would be dangerous to merge in and out of traffic at those speeds, especially while going through skinny little booths. From 2 lanes into 6 or 8 (I can't remember) and then back to 2 again would be pretty dangerous at high speeds.

It was changed to 20mph in most places, unless it is a place where the toll workers have to walk.

My mother recently received a bill for over $30.00 because she went through the tolls with not enough money on her Ez-Pass. So she sent them $1.00, and a letter, and she hasn't heard a thing since. Haha!
