The tolls should have been eliminated yrs ago just like the toll booths at blackrock & ogden the thruway authority just loves to ignore the laws it was a signed bonding the tolls would be eliminated when the bonds were paid off its been yrs now & we still get goughed

Since their last increase, we have not been to Grand Island. It is not a big deal to detour around them.

We need a DEDICATED source of funds to keep the Grand Island Bridges viable. Keep the tolls in place and use the monies for needed bridge upkeep.

if you live on the island you only pay 9cents if you use the island to save time and distance your saving more than you pay in tolls

We scratched our twice summer visit to Fantasy Island when last increase kicked in.

Sorry guys, we have to start cutting corners avoiding tolls are high on our list.

Give the Island back to the Indians. Maybe they will build a Casino or Two or Three. Then will you few filthy rich people that can afford $250,000 homes stop whining. Did I mention I have some swamp land for sale and if you act now I'll throw in the Brooklyn Bridge at no additional charge

You mean the whole Island isn't named Fantasy Island.

Damn The ticket taker at the booth over charged me for the ride tickets as I crossed the bridge.

That's it off to Darien Lake next time.

A good point but the tolls should be reduced back to 50 cents as the traffic is enough to reduce tolls

Yeah, lets turn it over to the DOT, especially how fiscally responsible they have been with the 219 extension. What a farce!
All but a handfull of states don't have toll roads, and those that don't are contemplating them as a dedicated source of funding.
If you don't want to pay tolls, take a different route. And Grand Islanders pay less a day than the price of a cup of coffee.
Keep the tolls and leave my taxes alone.

Paying our elected officials sooo much money...puts them outa touch with the majority of thier constituents.. If they had to rely on the programs they institute for us themselves, these programs would become more efficient, and beneficial to all. They should be
treated as any other taxpaying citizen
and, have to walk in thier shoes. Remember they supposedly work for us.

The chances of this happening are nil. It is just campaign talk. Why didn't George Maziarz hop on the bandwagon to eliminate the tolls a long time ago when his Republican party's Pataki was in office? After all Maziarz has been in office for 13 years and only since election time comes around do we hear of this.

Why should they change anything? The politicians, their friends, and families are all at the trough! My first thought was when I heard the Governor went to washington asking for help was: Yeah, right, Washington is going to give you more money so the politicians, staffers friends and families can live the lavish lifestyles their salaries allow them. Get real!Term limits please; and redistricting reform so we can get rid of them!

I want to know:
On cutting expenses, did Paterson train Brown,
or Brown train Paterson
OR
Is the "my expenses are fine - yours are TOO
high" mindset just basic training for all
reigning politicians.
