It's amazing how fast this bill is moving out of the public eye. Soon it will be on the Governors desk and what does he care if they stay or not! He never thought he'd be Governor and certainly won't be re-elected.
Before the state jumps all over the bridges do they really know how much federal aid they will get and how much of the tax payers money they will need to offset the cost of maintenance?
Sadly residents always called the toll a "bridge tax" but it was actually a "user fee". You used it you pay for it. Our taxes never went to the 190 or 90! Now area residents will have to pay a higher tax to pay the DOT a higher pay rate and salary. Maybe the residents would like to go back to traveling on ferry for 2 hrs at 25 cents. I'm not sure I can trust the state to maintain the bridges, look at the bridge structural problems we've had I'll just go around.
