The closure of Bonney Lake is a slap in the face and another knife in the heart of small town existence to eastern Colorado and western Kansas residents. Activities are limited and this makes one less thing to do. I am sure any future business looking to locate in these areas would consider this. Bonny was built to control flooding, possibly after the next flood and Kansas washes away (we can only hope) a smart politician will come up with the idea that we need to build a dam. I read the article in the record someone stated common sense would dictate keeping Bonny open and the response was the state did not have any. The up side is we can walk in another field and watsh a bird drink stagnet water!! Good luck keeping and attracting people to small town USA. Thanks for the time to vent, A former boater and economic booster to eastern Colorado

Kansas and Nebraska don't need the water. All the lakes are full in both states. None of the water from Bonny will ever reach nebraska or north central kansas where it is suppose to go. This is a joke and the politicians have ruined eastern colorado as I knew it as a kid. Bonny produced some great hunting and fishing. Some people depended on Bonny for employment and stored depended on hunting and fishing revenues.

Sunday afternoon drain tube open and lake lowering rapidly. Kansas should be happy soon. I would recommend not getting in bed with Kansas as you will probably get screwed.
How about "Don't Shop Kansas", I won't. The state needs to correct signage at entry "Bonny (no lake) State Park. This is a huge failure of Colorado goverment. Waiting for Utah to claim the mountains next. I am sure Colorado will give them up also. We need to elect officials that have our interest in mind. Kansas residents should vote for our officials as they serve Kansas better than Colorado.
