This Fire department issue is a classic example of a city growing too big, too fast. The "Master Plan" says another fire station is needed but doesn't say where to get the $$'s needed for it? Our wonderful mayor really needs to have his head examined if he really believes that asking the citizens of Delaware for more money right now. How many of us work in Columbus? How is that extra income tax from Cols. doing for the rest of you? I know for me, my wife and I are literally getting nothing from it but a higher tax bill and a lower amount of household income.
How many of you didn't get a raise this year? Or a much smaller than usual raise? Have a 401K or other investments that are dropping faster than a rock in the swimming pool?
Now take a look at what the city gave to the Fire, EMS, Police, and union employees. If the city cannot be responsible with the funding they receive, why should we keep giving them more? Especially when the schools are asking for more too?
C'mon Delaware citizens - what is your take on this? When is it going to be enough? When we no longer have anything left for ourselves and the gov't gives us what they feel we should have?
