News 8 was filming from the Municipal Marina. The docks at the marina were rocking when the ship went through. And the crunching of the ice was great. Spring is coming!!! Just hope it works to prevent ice jams. The last ice jam in December took out docks at the hotel in Spring Lake. No wonder the Titanic went down!!!

Wzzm13 was on the Coast Guard Cutter. We watched at Municipal then we quickly drove down to DJ Angus dock located just east of Boat Launch.

The cutter was about 50 yards from the railroad bridge, it slowly plowed a path to turn around.
Otherwise the cutter was hauling! I bet they were going 11-13 knots. The ice was about 6-8 inches think. After that they went out to the big lake, the Coast Guardsman told us that Lake Michigan is open water until they reached 1/2 mile from shore.

The cutter is going to spend the night in GH.

we flooded out in december...and got no help....great that they are doing something this time around......but if spring lake didnt have any flooding....they would still be doing nothing this time around....and we live near the bridge..the ice was unbelievable, it took out our dock and and washed our yard furniture away and a few deer drowned...it was awful......

Well, thats tough $#!t, consider it the price you pay living where you do. If I choose to live in the woods and a tree falls on my house, or if I live on a dirt road and its dry and dusty, you don't hear me pi$$ing and moaning about it.

Every year you have the same potential for flooding and it seems like you d!ck#eads would either move or accept it. Instead your always expecting someone else to help you out. As far as I'm concerned the flooding is your problem and everyone else's tax dollars shouldn't be spent cleaning up your friggin mess.

Wow how neat but wouldn't it be really neat if Coast Guard city USA had a ship of their own again seeing how every year there is problems with ice build up.

It's not your fault for wanting to bask in the natural beauty of our fine state. I blame that bitch Granholm for not coming through.

Here we go again! So it's Granholm's fault that there is ice on the river!
If Great bought a house on the river, they know it flood's every year, thats part of life !
It's called flood insurance! It's expensive !
If you can afford to live on the water, buy it!

Not dissing wood, but WZZM had better coverage, had a guy, and camera's on the boat!
I wish I could have seen it in person. There were people standing on a floating dock by the boat launch when it went by, I cant beleive they didnt fall in.
Then they showed these people walking out on the ice off of the south peir, just a day after the ordeal in Ohio !!
what are these people thinking ???
