Isn't this the second terrible accident at that intersection in the past few weeks?

Black ice may not be photogenic. My heart goes out to the victims and their families. I hope they recover.

Prayers to all concerned and their families. The problem with black ice is you don't know it's there until it's too late. Like ShamelessHussy said - it's not photogenic.

Is it necessary to say that the Cadillac was driven by a teenager when it was CLEARLY the pickups fault?
Good grief.
They sure aren't quick to report or accuse when it's an ELDERLY driver!

I was there this morning! The accident was across from Grand Haven football field. It was so bad it took near an hour to get the Female driver out. It was definitly not their fault. I hit the Ice right before that and almost lost it myself. The pick up driver fishtailed, caught dry pavement and it shot him straight across the median into the Cadillac. Pray for them, they are all in bad shape.

That's one of the reasons I prefer a manual transmission. Steer accordingly and step on the clutch pedal. That invariably gets the vehicle back under control.

Seems like that area is always busy. And then add black ice to the equation, it's a recipe for disaster unfortunately.

My prayers go out to the families and people involved in this accident. I hope all will recover quickly.

maybe you were there but you werent at the across from the football field. GH football is at Ferris and 31 not Lincoln. The two are a mile apart.

It did happen right in front of the football field, there is gravel on the road to soak up fluids from the automobiles.

The article says south of Hayes, and that is where it happened.

I hope the young girl gets well very soon.

ok. i go to school with these girls. on the very same road, i hit black ice as well that morning going to work. it may look dry, but it didn't mean it wasn't there. we live in michigan people. it's called weather. and i don't like how they worked that article either. just because it's us teens involved doesn't mean the blame should automatically be put on us.

Has anyone heard how the driver of the cadillac is doing?

Yes, she actually goes to my church and she attended mass about 5-6 weeks after the accident. She is in a wheelchair and has a long road to recovery, but she is a fighter and I hope that she makes a full recovery. She is definitely an inspiration!
