In the business column of section B, page 5, the FW Star Telegram, Monday January 14, 2013:

"Weatherford will be the new home for a $15 million, 74,450 square foot entertainment complex to be known as The Strand 8 Movie-Bowl-Grill, Dennis Clayton, executive director of the Weatherford Economic Development Authority, told the city's Rotary Club last week."
The article went on to note the record sales tax revenue for last year ($9.6 million), and population growth in 2012 of 3.5%.
This is the same Dennis Clayton that Tawni, Moylan and their minions don't think is qualified for the job. They have also stated on this forum that he does nothing but sit behind his desk. They asked on one message board "Name one business that Clayton has helped bring to Weatherford."
Well, here's one.

BTW, this is not rumor or something "I heard", FACT.

and now Floyd, shit man, how many IDs do you need? You are WACK

Dennis Clayton is not an Economist. He has no idea what he is doing. No economics degree or special training. He reads off information that is gathered onto a website the city pays for a subscription to. He has nothing to do with any forward movement by the City of Wford and now we find out that he is not only drawing a salary of a Master Degreed Economist from COW, but he is also the lead of the Hospital Board? The man is in these positions the same as the COW Council, they are ignorant of the duties they are supposed to be responsible for so the powers that be can push them around like puppets. I am sure Mr Clayton is not a stupid man, he isnt qualified for his position and not sure how he can serve in both positions since he is paid for full time employment by COW.

Clayton certainly had nothing to do with this entertainment complex!

Idiot.
The advisory board of WRMC is not a paid position.
Holding an economics degree is not a qualification for Ecodirector.
Who did the movie theater people meet with if not Clayton? You can't say because you are ignorant of the facts.
Thanks for your input billy, now go back to guarding your mailbox with your wooden gun.
Again, how does this news strike you as negative?
Don't like movies, or bowling, or family entertainment?
How about your peep show business at Linkcrest? Is that what you're wanting?

Definition of 'Economist'
An expert who studies the relationship between a society's resources and its production or output. The societies studied may range from the smallest of local communities to an entire nation or even the global economy.

The expert opinions and research findings of an economist are used to help shape a wide variety of policies, including interest rates, tax laws, employment programs, international trade agreements and corporate strategies.

Due diligence was done when you ran for council and that is why you lost every time

Bill, you are showing how little you know about business and industry ad it relates to local economics.

The project will create more jobs than you ever have. Period.

You did not even consider the financial impact of the sales tax they will collect and the property tax they will pay.

Further, you don't understand corporate structure. You ask about criminal background checks on the owners. Corporations such as this are owned by shareholders. Hundred if not thousands.

Even if we could check these things, I don't think it would br legal for the city to deny this project because of an issue like that. The city had very very little authority to keep a business out.

Go educate yourself before you embarrass yourself more.

you are too funny, not.

Would ANYONE in Wford think THIS would be a good place to post anything of worth? HaHaHa This is for the haters of people of Wford to attack anyone who list their real name.

You post under Floyd then talk to yourself as Clarence, then you have other ID's to talk to yourself with. You are sick.

I went back and read the article. The other towns where they have built businesses were listed. Not too hard to look them up online. I guess someone with brainworms might look on it as a bad thing, but most reasonable, thinking people would say, "Great!"
Kinda tells you the perspective of these people. Not caring, just critical.

What a confusing, poorly worded comment, full of misspelled words - what makes you think people who bowl are low lifes?

Why don't you ask Tony Monge, the manager of the movie theater at the time?
I would guess the interstate access, cheaper land, lower taxes, etc. The same things that cause businesses to make decisions every day. You want to blame an individual for their decision?
Now, for the million dollar question--the current owners of the CityLights Theater in Hudson Oaks are.......
Wait for it......
It's really good.....
You ready?
The same guys who are putting in the bowling alley/movie theater/family entertainment complex!!!
So there's no conspiracy, unless they are trying to run themselves out of business. That might make sense to the Gang of Four, but not to most people.
Most of this was gleaned from the article, but I guess you idiots can't comprehend.
Good day!

Congratulations Clarence for interpreting for the ignorant foursome. I know they will appreciate your help. They are so grateful for all the benefits the city provides for them. Thanks Clarence for clear concise reporting. Oh need I also say factual as well. Thanks.

[I would guess the interstate access, cheaper land, lower taxes, etc. The same things that cause businesses to make decisions every day]

Clarence, Thank you for this answer. So ,Why would these same people who left Weatherford for those reason ever, ever want to build a business in Weatherford?

By the way what happened to the water park they plan to build?

Any information of the miniture golf course.

A number of years ago, Former Pct 4 Parker County Commissioner work with a girl friend to try to build a bowling alley out by Pilot Truck Stop and they could not come up with enough land to build it on. This was when im Webester was a member of the Weatherford Planning and Zoning Board, just for you info current Councilperson Waymond Hamiltion was the then Chairperson. A land varience could not get approval from the ten City Council. And Mr Webester got his girlfriend P G and buried his "downs sysdrome baby".

The story is truth. So many of immoral and inappropriate decisions have been made in the COW for the biggest motivators of men - sex or money of both. Looking at your City Council I would guess its way more for $$$. By the looks of them there ain't no sexy goin on.
