I just wanted to take some time to express my opinion. I feel that the people who don't understand why we are making a big deal haven't really taken the time to investigate the history behind the black flag itself, the club, or the business owners. I do believe people really can change but to me it’s not just saying you have changed but showing it order to gain respect. If Charles Juba says he let go of his past 5 years ago, then how come he still associates with people from his past? I understand that just because people have different opinions that it doesn’t mean they will bring them to their business or try to spread them but for this “club” I just don’t think that’s the case. On the club website it states:“The Black Flag Club, LLC., is committed to carrying this tradition on.” They honor the traditions of William Clarke Quantrill. Why would anyone want to carry on the traditions of such a horrible person? How is a person who kills innocent people someone that we would want to admire and carry on the traditions of? If he is just a business owner trying to open up a business and do something positive then he did a horrible job of presenting himself in a professional manner at the town meeting on Monday. I’m not saying that I’m against giving people a chance but what happens if he opens this club and something really horrible happens then how does the community of Odessa pick up the pieces and move on? I feel we should not just sit back to see if he succeeds or fails but instead should take action and stop it before it happens. You don’t just sit back and let a fire burn to see if it will spread or put itself out YOU put the fire out BEFORE it spreads, so why should this be any different? Just as one of the citizens of Odessa stated at the meeting I’m proud to say I’m from such a great community with great parents, teachers, and peers and we certainly don’t need him to tell us any different. It might be too late to stop him from opening the night club but it’s definitely not too late to stand up for something we believe in and show Mr. Juba that he choose a bad location to host his night club/ recruiting tool and not to mess with ODMO. As an African American teenager this makes me angry that the people who signed the business license didn’t thoroughly investigate this man and it makes me wonder what else happens that we Odessans don’t know about.

'Kay, being a teenager of Odessa, after hearing about Charles Juba opening this club up. He says it's his past. Doesn't mean his beliefs are gone. I can see why most of-- wel, all of everyone of Odessa is scared. We don't want that here, go back to where you came from and take that somewhere else. That's going to give a bad name to Odessa, bring more drama here. We don't want that, we'd just like to be the small, quiet, dramaless town we were before. K'bye.
