I will stand by you any day of the week Ralph. I love my campsite and don't plan on going anywhere for a long time. Like I said before I don't hear all the noise these people are talking about. If I owned the camp I would be out watching over my property too. These people leave their trash lay every where and don't care how it looks. They have no respect for you or the people that pay to use the property everyday. If you need any help just let me know.

I have been going to family fishing since I was 8 years old and now I take my kids there Crystal and Ralph are nice people and have always been. They are very much family people and care about there coustomers. Some people just need to grow up and stop bashing on there business. They do the best they can to keep that place clean. Maybe if people would clean there shit up before they leave instead of letting it lay everywhere it would help out a lot. There is rules for a reason if you follow them then there wouldn't be a problem. They are great people and love kids.

I also had a camp there for a couple of years. It was all good until they started the fishing tournaments 2 and sometimes 3 or 4 nights a week.
The problem is that most people are working people and only have time to frequent the campgrounds on weekends which is when the tournaments are. It is quiet Monday through Thursday though, I will agree with you on that. But tournament nights are not much different than downtown Clarksburg.
I am the daughter of Stuart McQuain and I do not remember you, and that's funny because I have been working at this place since the beginning. I am sorry you think the tournamnets were a mistake but we did not make a cent on the yearly campers we paid more out in electric than we made on the sites and we didn't want to raise the rates. Oh i guess as long as it doesn't effect you it doesnt matter if a business makes money. Maybe you need to have a camper at a place where your neighbor is closer than ten feet and they tell you what when where how and why to do something. We have learned and my father told me " sweetie you can't please everyone so do not try" and "Just do what is best for the majority".

Everyone has there own opinion, But to discredit someones business & a wonderful family shame on you, You must not know what family is all about so if the rules of this business keeps the riff raff out that makes family fishing a better place to be!

My husband has been fishing out there for years, an he would never go anywhere else. He has tried the other pay fishing ponds an they SUCK. All I got to say is that family fishing is a great place. An when we stayed out there, it was really quite an peacefull.

Okay, apparently you people who are talking bad about Family Fishing no nothing to what you are talking about. And the guy who "gawks" at you is my uncle and he has to gawk because of people like you! He's making sure everything is in order and idiots like you aren't tearing thr place up. And for whoever said my uncle hates kids..is completely stupid you obviously don't know him. He took me under his wing when my father left me and acted as my father. He's a damn good father to three wonderful children and has 3 grandchildren that he adores..(even though he doesn't need the justification that he is a good man as well as him and his wife being good business owners) I guarentee you cowards who ever do thoughtfully bashed them vould even begin to run the business..

HAve you noticed how he will take your money, but leave those poor elderly people there to worry about collecting the money, cook, etc.:(
Ummmm hello its called a job! Do you criticize any other employer for hiring an older person to do a job? NO YOU DON'T and age isn't a factor. Trust me it is not beneath anyone in that family to do anything and everything to keep Family Fishng running... EVEN COOKING FOOD OR CLEANING THE TOILET YOU SHIT IN! The fact that they have to hire employees just indicates that the business has grown so much that they are no longer able to handle all the duties and responsibilities themseleves.

I am so hurt at what people are saying about Crystal and Ralph and Family Fishing and Camping. We have been there camping for three years and my brother-in-law has been there for around 13 yrs. They were among the first campers. They pay year round and can't wait to come every spring. Neither can we spring can't come soon enough.
When we came there Ralph and Crystal did every thing they could to get us a spot right beside our family. We have built around our camper and leave it yearly. As for the Fishing Tourments we do not fish but enjoy watching them catch the fish, we go to the store sometimes and visit with who ever is working and they are always ready to talk to you.
As for children I know they love children they fixed the play ground last year with mulch around the swings. They remodled the one bath house and needless to say before the summer was over someone distroyed it by running into the door till it would not shut. Peolpe leave trash in the restroom and don't clean up after they use it. To me that shows NO RESPECT for other peoples property. We LOVE to camp there and will as long as we can.
Crystal, remember how far the LORD has brought your grandson GAVIN??? Well, the devil is always trying to bring you down after the LORD has worked out something for you. So just hold your head high and keep trusting in the LORD and it will be alright. Prayer you way!!!! BE GAVIN STRONG!!!!

First Family fishing and camping was the dream of Stewart not his children and grandchildren. You can tell this by the lack of attention to detail throughout the entire place. The roads are wore out from the monthly rental folks who work near by. As for the fishing they have fish die every weekend and two stockings per year will never replace what was lost. The grass is one of the only positives it looks good, the restrooms leave much to be desired. The store opens at 10 sometimes 10:30 and maybe not till 11:30 when ever they get around to it. Our son and his wife drove 50 minutes to fish with me only to find store not open to pay or get bait. Soon the fishing will be gone along with camping it will be a monthly rental lot for workers. Sure miss Stewart.

I am reading this forum and I wonder how someone can be so unkind about something so petty. I for one have camped there for a month last summer without any problems and met several nice people who were also camping there. I was down on the store porch (you may of mistaken me for the elderly person you referred to as working in the store) I was there enjoying the people especially one young man who run in weighing his fish and going out with a big smile because he caught a big one. You mentioned the roads and other things you must remember this is a family they are not state funded like the state camping places they don't have that kind of capitol and have to do what they can with what they have. And if you had walked in Ralph and Crystals shoes over the last year just a few feet (that's all I could do) by having their life change overnight thinking they had a healthy grandson to find he had full blown cancer in a matter of days. They had to decide to spend time with Gavin or be at the campground I think you know the answer. As for Ralph patrolling the camping area great when we camp at Burnsville lake at least every hour or so you see either a sheriff's car, host truck or park ranger drive around each camping area that made me feel safe so I don't get your complaining about him doing the same. We also are one of the ones waiting for a yearly spot because I enjoyed the tranquility and beauty down in that little valley. I would suggest you not come there if you don't enjoy it instead of tearing down a family who is already burdened down because of the love for their grandson's health to improve which praise God has. Finally , if you can't say anything nice just be quiet and go your way and leave this dear family alone.

I agree. Take away the fishing tournaments, and it could be one of the best places in WV. HOwever, people who pay $500 or more a season are getting ripped off by having there weekends ruined. Gavinstrong.

I don't camp or fish but I do know this family has a very young loved one that has been fighting for his life for quite some time and will be. Instead of putting them down, why not lift them up in prayer.

I can't see any where that anyone is getting ripped off. I pay more than $500 a season and I don't feel ripped off. My weekends have never been ruined by gavinstrong or anything else. My family spends almost every weekend out at the camp and we love it. Ralph and crystal are great people. They can also do anything they want to with their property. Nobody rents the whole campground with the money they pay. They rent a site for their camper. So what is the big deal that they use their property that they own. The Lemleys are quite happy with their camp. And we are not going anywhere.

There precious Grandson's name is Gavin, and the word Gavin Strong is in honor and support of him. May God Bless each and every one of the Morris family. Having said that, I stand behind what I said previously. Family fishing and campground has the potential to be one of the nicest places in the state. My one and only complaint is about the fishing tournaments. Yes, they have the right to use there own property as they see fit. But if I am going to pay good money to park a camper, I will go to Audra or Big Bear where the campers never have there privacy or peaceful nights ruined by drunk people fishing. Just my opinion.

We, too, have a great campsite at Family Fishing and Camping and spend nearly all spring, summer, and fall there. It is a great family oriented place where rules and regulations are indeed enforced so that our children can ride their bikes freely or walk down to the basketball court or volleyball courts or just sit at the pavillion talking with friends. Crystal and Ralph have picnics and cookouts every summer for the campers and their families. We as campers bring covered dishes to go along with the hot dogs and hamburgers that the Morris Family provides out of their own pockets. Yes, Ralph does patrol the grounds and roads to ensure the safety of not only the campers but also the many, many fisherman, their children. If you feel that this is not the place for you, then so be it. There is a waiting list at the office of people who will gladly take your vacancy. The Riley's have several family members from Grafton and Fairmont who all camp here. We have built large decks at our own expense because we live here more than at home and we take care of our sites. We appreciate the patroling that goes on. As far as Ralph being mean to kids,I really find that hard to believe. I personally saw him give little kids candy from their store because they didn't have any money. He patrols to watch over these small children who often are with fishermen and left unattended simply because this is a safe environment. Shame on you people to bash the Morris' and their business. We checked into other places too and the cost was doubled at Twin Lakes and nearly 3x the cost at Jellystone and we would have used up our free time traveling to get there. I don't recall too many drunks out there fishing and if there are, they are asked to leave and most are probably in that condition when they arrive. The Rileys and the Stewart's as well as the Lemley's are here to stay! If we are displeased with the condition of our road, then our family gets together and discuss how we could help to better the situation. What is the difference of going to a school and tearing it up or defacing school property? Do you people not think that there would be somethng done to the individuals who caused the problems. And the schools are public property. The grounds at Family Fishing are the same grounds that the Morris live on and their kids were raised on and now a son and his family will someday build on. Come on people let's all work together and if you don't like it, then DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YA WHERE THE GOOD LORD SPLIT YA!

As a parent of 6 children, 3 of them being under the age of 6, I LOVE the fact that the owners make their presence known and make sure that people are following the rules. I also appreciate the fact that they take the time to speak with the campers and fishermen. Really gives the campground a true "family" feeling. We frequent the lake and campground often in the summertime. I have NEVER seen the facilities dirty or the areas around the lake or campsites looking uncared for. As far as the owners not encouraging the presence of children...How Ludicrous!! My children lovingly refer to the owners as their "Nanny and Pap at the lake". If you would prefer to "fish" unsupervised do everyone a HUGE favor and GO DO IT for FREE!! But, don't try to bash a wonderful establishment in the process. Oh, and of course under a shady "alias". We love and appreciate all you do at Family fishing and Camping Ralph, Crystal and staff. Keep up the amazing job.

We also have a camp site at family fishing,i feel the ppl that R BAD MOUTHIN the place and family needs to grow up... yes things has changed sense the old man had died. but u need to give them a chance. The only thing we see that is wrong is the tourments keep them from 4 to 12 and stop putting them in salt. they r not a salt fish. put lime at the end of the ponds that will kill any bugs etccc... on those pretty fish, we love Crystal and yes they do have a lot on their mind but give them a chance... OMG the 4 years that we have been there has been GREAT... but yes u all do need to stock more
