Place has went downhill since the original owner died. If it ain't tournament night & they ain't making the big money, they make you feel like they do not want you there.

Don't see any difference. Still the same no matter what night of the week it is.

They only cater to people who are paying to fish. It is a big ripoff when it comes to camping, which is why they cannot keep campers longer than a one season. Very few people come back for a second year.

Take my advice, if you have a family, take your hard earned money to a real campground that puts paying campers first!

I don't know mike. I know alot of people out there that have had camps there for years. If you want peace and unite that is the place to be.

I also had a camp there for a couple of years. It was all good until they started the fishing tournaments 2 and sometimes 3 or 4 nights a week.

The problem is that most people are working people and only have time to frequent the campgrounds on weekends which is when the tournaments are. It is quiet Monday through Thursday though, I will agree with you on that. But tournament nights are not much different than downtown Clarksburg.

Even on tournament night I've never heard a bunch of noise out there. Usually setting up
Till mid or 1 around the fire anyway.

I just think this family fishing night is great, alot of people can't afford their fishing licese plus the money to camp or what not, but being able to take your children to a good night of fun without figureing which bill to let go for that, is wonderful, as far as camping there, I really don't like the whole layout so I take my business elsewhere, it just doesn't seem really kept up on from eye sight.....but way to go for the family fishing kids days....

i agree. you can't fish with his red truck going up and down the road 100x an evening with his head gawking out his window and every move you make. not worth the money.

I Agree! & The owner's running up and down the road to gawk contributes to 50% of the constant traffic. I'll save my $$ for a REAL paylake. Catfisherman's Paradise.

i know what you mean. that guy is 100% jerk. FAMILY FISHING is over. FISH WITH A JERK should be the new name ---> just my opinion & a suggestion.
HAve you noticed how he will take your money, but leave those poor elderly people there to worry about collecting the money, cook, etc.:(

i do not recommend it. once you pay to fish one night, you could have a year's worth of Hunting&Fishing License to go to Tygart Lake, Cheat Lake, Stonewall Jackson, etc. I believe $40.00 is the Sportsmans Package.

Ok for one Stuart was a good man he was my father in law! I really don't have to explain my self to an gone on here this is our business and if you don't like it don't come! If you have a problem with us tell us to our face! So more than likely you have done something for me to get on you about! As for kids if you think I don't like kids again you probably have not taught them manors or respect go someone else's property (if I have said anything to them I am very respectful until they are not then I will do what I have to do! If you don't like our camp grounds that's fine go elsewhere there are people waiting to get in here all the time! As far as the Elderly people working for us they want to work unlike most young people today! We do not make them work long! This is just a bunch of people posting sour grapes. I would bet the most of you I have had to ask to leave or got on to for something or another! Gavin Strong

the reason someone has to (run up and down the road with their head gawking out the window is because people don't take care of the fish or our place leavening garbage where they were fishing and people will steal fish also! And please if you don't like it here don't come back

The post about Ralph not liking kids - LMAO!!!! He coached basketball for years and is now a school bus driver!! For some reason i dont think that the school systems around here would let him do either if he were mean to children. As far as them having elderly people working out there, they are employees. They want to work there and they do.a great job! Its a place where they can make some money and not have to.over exert themselves. Would you say the same thing about an elderly person standing on their feet all day working at walmart!? No, you wouldnt think twice about that, even though that is way more strenuous than working at family fishing!! As far as the camping goes, they have TONS of regulars that come back every season and even leave their campers there for the winter!! The tournaments are fun local entertainment, which is hard to find in such a small town. If you dont like it, why do even go.out there? Its sad when peiple take such a great thing and try to turn the tables ):

First as a business owner in Taylor County and the owner of this facility I believe that those reading these connents should consider the source of the complaints. First they won't put their full name on their comments, second patroling keeps people from stealing fish that we travel 11 hours to get ourselves, it also keeps people from cussing in front of children, trashing our place, or acting inappropriately. The people complaining about the red truck are the first to complain about someone fishing beside them cussing or being rude. Another thing I find interesting is that some of these names are the same names attached to parents of children who let their children damage our fish, steal our fish, dump garbage and come to our facilities without adult supervision.
Cleanliness, we mow over 13 acres religiously trim all those acres keep garbage picked up, have super clean restrooms, and in general a 26 acre facility that we as a family spend hours keeping up so children can fish for free without cutting their feet, getting poison ivy, stepping on snakes and they can picnic with their family in a family environment.
One of the people on the complaint list was the parent that allowed their five year old child poop beside the pond wipe and leave the paper there when a full clean restroom was less than 100 feet away and a porta potty cleaned regularly was less than 20 feet away. How about it guys would you want to step in poop while fishing.
CHILDREN FISH FREE PEOPLE! WE LOVE CHILDREN AND WANT THEM TO HAVE A PLACE THEY CAN FISH THAT IS SAFE AND CLEAN.
Camping- we have people who have been here for ten plus years and we have a waiting list for new sites.
Roads- We have 5 miles of road that we put over 300 tons of gravel last year alone.
The guy in the red truck is one of the kindest, hardest working, best husband father and grandfather to ever walk this earth. He patrols and protects this fishing place for children.
We do nothing for the money we have not made a profit ever on this place we put every cent back into it and pay huge taxes in Taylor County. Last year alone we paid 36000.00 in electric bills, 8000.00 to put aerators in two ponds and over 7000.00 dollars in fish and that is just the tip of the iceberg for this business. We do all the work ourselves.
We have all kinds of tournaments and kids days for children in this county because we do it for the children, Oh by the way we get nothing for any of those tournaments.
Thank you for your time and please Be Gavin Strong!

I will stand by you any day of the week Ralph. I love my campsite and don't plan on going anywhere for a long time. Like I said before I don't hear all the noise these people are talking about. If I owned the camp I would be out watching over my property too. These people leave their trash lay every where and don't care how it looks. They have no respect for you or the people that pay to use the property everyday. If you need any help just let me know.

This is a public forum so people can discuss a business or anything else for that matter. If I were a business owner I don't think it's wise to tell people to not come. If you're looking for good reviews -give them a reason to give one. Not taking sides, but it just seems like your post is giving them more of a reason to complain.
Capital we own this business and we can put what we want. Do I know you? Are you the whiny person from Pttsburgh that nobody liked and couldnt get along with anyone and did not pay your rent? Sounds like sour grapes to me. I pay taxes in Taylor County I have more of a right than you to post.
