I wanted to share with the Reformer (which I did via email) and the Brattleboro community, my honest feelings about this article today; in no means do I mean to attack the Reformer or the reporter in any sort of way. The article in the paper about John Archambault really turned my stomach. It portrayed such a skewed image of John that now will be detrimental not only to John, his campaign, and any chance of him finding a job in this town, but also his daughter, who In her pre-adolescence will be looking up to a father who has committed a crime...a crime for which he has repented and truly regretted....a father who only wanted to set a good example for his daughter by being a good role model and getting involved in community actions (John had planed to inform her when she turns 18). This article has now has tainted a twelve year old girl's perception of her father. This is not an excuse for John's behavior in the past...his past should not even be any of my buisness..., but rather my opinion on the subject. I believe that his past is his personal business, whether it was once public knowledge (in the state of R.I.) 28 years ago or not; John has learned from his mistakes and continues to, he has not had a record since. Therefore, I believe it to be wrong that this incident was "dug up" and phoned in from an anonymous source? I would like to add that a large portion of this article was actually misquoted and un-factual. Regarding the incidents of assault at Morningside Shelter: I am an X resident... I was a victim of verbal, physical, and sexual assault as were three other women at the time of my stay. One woman suffers severe trauma and humiliation now as a result of a rape that has been silenced. Morningside Shelter disregarded not only my incident but also the other incidents that took place at the shelter. John's lawsuit against Morningside shelter is in place becuase he truely wants to help people. That is also the reason that he choose to run for the Selectboard. It is ashame that things had to come to this.

Oh, boohoo for a killer trying to conceal his past while running for public office! I give rare congratulations to the Reformer for bringing the candidate's history to light. If John Archambault didn't want his past made public, he made a dumb move by running for public office. Duh!

perhaps if anyone truly wants to conceal any pasts, one should ride into town taking over the local parsonage. easier to hide behind a pulpit of God than a pulpit of politics. it is of no surprise these cancers have spread to vermont. they, politicians as well as "pastors with a past" have nowhere else to go. they've been exposed everywhere else. check out your local "pastors" and you may like politics afterall. rutland's loaded with 'em. moral of this writing: at least check your pastors past, the family you save could be your own!
