What kind of socialist movement is the drive to ban smoking in all agendas?

Is this Russia?

Nanny-Statism will eventually force you to flush only once; (I forgot! They already did that.), buy only government-approved light bulbs - gollee!- just passed and SIGNED BY THE "MODERATE" PRES. BUSH!

How about only turning your lights on 2 hours a day, or setting your thermostat to 61 degrees - all to save "energy" and the "carbon footprint"!

As an ex-smoker, let the poor smokers smoke thier heads off; more taxes and more Social Security for everyone else!

I've got to agree! The Amerikan socialist movement is more concerned with regulating individual action than it is anything else. As an ex-smoker, I go to a non-smoking restaurant or bar when I want.

(75% of Kansas City's restaurants and bars are non-smoking. Bet you didn't know that.)

If I want to go somewhere that smoking is allowed I have a choice to do that too. But, I know that's only temporary. We wouldn't dare let business owners make a business decision. It might not be the correct decision.
What's next? Use your imagination. It probably won't be far off.

OK
When we finish banning smoking, I want to go after fast food restaurants. This is a disgrace.

Do you have any idea how many fat people live in KC? A ton. It's go to stop

I do not think fast food places should be allowed to advertise on TV, radio, billboards, or mags.
They are dangerous places.

Another thing, and this is more important then getting all those smokers, and that is getting the guy who likes to pour on a bottle of cologn in the morning. This has to be against the law.

OH yeah, I almost forgot, along with "that-guy," we have got to stop old women from wearing that Avon crap. It makes me sneeze.

I would rather smell like smoke then be around that.

Ok, and what about those guys who like to wear shorts that are shorter then the women wear, and they have nasty looking legs. That has to be against the law.

And I saw a little kid last week pick his nose and eat it. Now I don't care how darling little kids are, there has to be legislation to prevent that..........come on!

You people better understand what you are attempting to do.
And you should also see how, those who are now in favor of this type of legislation, have been manipulated.

Do I smoke? NO
Do I like being around it? NO
Do I go to places that allow smoking in the restaurant? NO

I have total contempt for anyone who would attempt to remove any freedoms from any American.

You better wise up and see this for what it is.

If you don't like smoking - then don't go where they smoke.

Hey everybody, don't be so quick to get angry! I was a smoker when I was young but I sure don't enjoy any second-hand smoke today. In fact, as a consumer I don't spend a dime on a beer or dinner where I chance having to take a shower and wash my clothes when I get home. No thanks! Visit a state (I've been living in Montana, which experienced its change about 5 years ago) where smoking is prohibited and you'll find that consumers and business-owners are really pleased! Kansas is behind the times! Besides, think of the wait-staff that is exposed to all that second-hand smoke during their shifts- would you want that for your wife, husband, son, or daughter....its about safety not the freedom of bad habits. Best Wishes!

Like I said in another thread, the business owners know what it takes to bring in customers. If that's smoke-free, that's the direction they'll go. If it's letting the place look like a 1920's caucus room, that's what they'll do. I, personally am sick to death of laws that are enacted to save people from themselves. Good Lord, if I don't like going somewhere because of the atmosphere, I don't go. The world is chock-full of places to eat, drink and work. If you don't like one, go to the other. Quit stuffing your opinions down the world's throat.

And, by the way, I do not smoke. Can't stand the smell of it. I don't go to places that allow smoking. Pretty simple.

If my wife, son or daughter wanted a job enough to work in an establishement where smoking is permitted, that would be their choice. If you don't want to enter an establishment where people smoke, that is your choice. It should be a business decision...a choice. Not government legislation.

Don't be concerned. I think this Good Ol' Boys Club just likes to get angry. Amerikan Socialist Movement? Whew! Is there a conspiracy going on here that we don't know about? Left or Right wing? It must be on the left, cuz these boys are always so right.

The freedom of bad habits - I like that. Spose these other guys are for legalizing marijuana?

Hmmmm. "The Amerikan socialist movement." That sounds curiously like name-calling. I think I'm beginning to get it. This is the cyberspace version of "Politically Incorrect."

It is all about choice. If you don't want to be around smokers go somewhere else. As for jobs get one where smoking is not permitted. Really quit simple.
Would you like the Government telling you when and where to eat everyday, when and where to shop, the list could go on and on.

I'm an ex-smoker, and I hate the smell of smoke. But I hate the secular Puritanism of the new Prohibitionists even more. This is truly disgusting.
