Yes they should be on the 4th of july, so that people that have that day off from work can enjoy them with their family and loved ones. but instead they have them at the end of the week when people are working. Oh forgot have to have them on a Friday night so people can drink and then drive home how stupid is the Village of Gouverneur.

Yes let's have them all on the same day so you can't travel to another town and enjoy the fireworks. Really? One more thing for the little minds to complain about. Isnt it in the constitution that fire works have to be on the 4th of July???? LOL Seriously

They have them in norwood and alex bay on the 4th. If its that important for you to see some on that night go there!

I have to have a license in order to buy, transport, set up and ignite the pyrotechnics. There are only so many of us in New York State, and even less of us in the North Country. Count the number of communities and places that desire to have their fireworks exactly on July 4th, and then count the number that hold a license to do so. The mathematics are not going to allow every communinty to have their fireworks on the 4th. You should be happy and pleased that your community is still having them, albeit not exactly on the 4th. Thankfully, in your community the local Fire Dept. still underwrites the cost. So instead of complaining that they are not on the 4th, be thankful you are still having them, and a Friday night is pretty convenient for "most" people, due to the fact that "most" people do not have to work weekends (yes, I know that there are still many that do). Hope that clears up and provides some reasoning as to why everyone can't have their fireworks on the same night.

Looks like a fabulous night for the works. Get out to the fairgrounds and enjoy them. Setting up is already starting, takes a number of hours to do the prep work to have them ready. Yes, it is somewhat cheaper to have them on an "off" day, but they still are fairly costly. So, don't forget to donate to your firemen as you go through the entrance.
