I am not military and I have no military family but I would just like to say a few things. I find it utterly ridiculous that people find it unfair that military people get discounts, etc. They sacrifice a lot for this country. They go months without their families sometimes even years if on special forces. They risk their lives everyday when on deployment. They do go without hot showers and miss out on their childrens upbringing etc. You are all correct they were not forced to do this which is why they should be rewarded. They willingly sacrifice a lot just to serve our country. In doing such, they are protecting and defending the non-military people of our country which would include all you hatred filled people whom have been bashing our military and/or being jealous of the military benefits.

I served for a few years and my husband is still in. I did one tour and he just finished his second. That being said... I appreciate everything the military has done for me and still does for me as a veteran and as a dependent. The breaks that we get are fantastic and we utilize every bit that we can. But, I believe most people do utilize whatever there employer gives for discounts, incentives, insurance, etc. Fire fighters, police officers, and a few other public service positions also provide similar "breaks." Should all discounts and the similar then be removed? Should wal-greens and wall-mart not give employee discounts and stock options? There are advantages and disadvantegous to every job. When the government threatened to shut down, the military would have not gotten paid (as many other gov't paid jobs) and still would have to work... work for free. I do take offense to some of this only because I lost one very good friend and three of my men on my tour, and I don't feel that the discount at aero makes up for that. I will not respond to any posts attacking me directly as I've attacked no one, so let's please continue to maintain this as a discussion. Thanks for reading my opinion.:)

Because they're way better at it, enough so that its fun to watch and rivalries exist. I dont care to watch guys playing for fun in their backyard for something to do. I am one of many. Ever seen Yankee stadium at any given game? They bring in the money, hence, they can spend it on the athletes.

Yes, we definitely signed up for it. What do you guys think should be removed from the "breaks" we get? Do you think that breaks should be removed from all jobs that have them?

I was talking sports lol Every job has its benefits and I think they're great for whatever career you choose. Soldiers deserve every benefit they're given.

Thanks for you service.

Yea but before 9/11 not all troops were sent overseas for a year at a time. When my uncle was in he was never deployed. I know their job is not easy and I thank each and everyone of them for the sacrifices they make every day for this country.
there were plenty of deployments before 9/11 just not as prominent in the news . umm desert storm etc.
