Not gonna happen anytime soon. They closed at 80 cents a pound and the price is only at 90 cents right now and fuel prices have more than doubled. I would guess price would have to get to around 1.50 and stay there for awhile before they would even try it. Thank China for the low prices!

Yes they probably will run again but it will still be awhile. The sale hasn't been completed and the price is still lower than operating costs. It may be a year it may be 5 it may be 10 and if either operating costs aren't greatly reduced or the price increases it may be never.

You know something DJL is right. The Town and Village are always trying to glab the glory. Lets look at recent History, Notice the Town advertises on the entrance signs " Home of Brian Leonard"

Brian Leonard NEVER lived in Gouverneur, Parents never lived there, but lets put it on the sign.

You and DJL are both idiots! I worked at the mines for many years and the postal address has always 408 Syivia Lake Rd. Gouverneur, NY 13642. So I would say the mines ARE in Gouverneur!!

He may have gone to school in the Gouverneur School District, But the stupid sign says "Home of". So why do the Asses in the town of Gouverneur have to try and claim glory thats not thiers?

And in case you can't read, postal address has nothing to do with what town your in, Jesus I guess you really did spend to much time hanging out in a hole in the ground.

Are we really that petty? Arguing over who "steals the glory" of the town?

There's not an awful lot of "glory" in whining on the internet about who's "stealing your glory."

Ask Brian where he is from and see what he says. I'm pretty sure the NFL probably asked him and not anyone in the town and they have his hometown listed as Gouverneur as well. As far as the mines go, where would you like us to say they are a*shole? Balmat, Fowler? Either way, Gouverneur is the closest village with any type of infrastructure. Without Gouverneur where would the 200 or so employees of the mine send their children to school, find adequate housing for their families, grocery shop and numerous other things withing a reasonable driving distance? I have some actual knowledge of the mines and can guarentee you that more than 50% of the mines employees lived in Gouverneur! If you want to get technical the mines are actually in numerous towns. There are mines or parts of them belonging to St. Lawrence Zinc in Balmat, Fowler, Gouverneur, Edwards, Pierpont and Harrisville. Question my intelligence all you would like but I will compare IQs with you any time you would like dumbass!!

If you would really like to get technical since you know so much, where has anyone actually named the mines they are speaking of. There are mines belonging to other companies that also heppen to be closed and are located entirely within the town of Gouverneur. Imerys Marble recently closed a mine located on the Seavey Rd in Gouverneur that also employed numerous people! But then again you probably wouldn't know that because there is hard work involved not just criticism and short sightedness and trying to be right all the time when you really know nothing at all f*ckstick!

Somebody else already mentioned it but I imagine you as one of the little p*ssies that pissed themselves and cried for mommy when they got off the skip 2500 feet underground and quit within 5 minutes of their first shift while the rest of us men went to work in that hole and put our lives at stake to support our families with one of the best paying jobs in the North Country!!
