<quoted text>Through the years, classroom size has varied, and overall Fowler has had many years of smaller classes. Of course there are times when the numbers are in the 20's, but there are many times when the numbers are in the teens and LOW 20's. Regardless....classroom size should be evenly distributed throughout the Gouv. school system.
Heres an idea put the 6th graders back in the elementary school where they belong, instead of trying to make them grow up faster then what they need to! maybe them rooms wouldnt be empty if they had left them kids where they belong!!!

i went to fowler school as a child and lived in gouverneur and im now 36, it dont matter if kids are bussed from gouverneur to attend fowler school!! its an overall BETTER school then east or westside!! leave our little school alone!
It is ridiculous to say that Fowler is an overall Better school than East or West Side. We should not be comparing the schools as "better than".
You said it's a better school and YOU went there: well here is a grammar lesson regarding ALL your posts:

Don't not dont
it's better not its better
Fowler is the name of a town/school and should be capitalized
I'm not im
It doesn't matter instead of it don't matter (poor English)
There's instead of theres.. it is a contraction for there is
here's instead of heres ... it is a contraction for here is
those rooms not them rooms (wow that is really poor English)
wouldn't instead of wouldnt
East and West Side are names of schools and should be capitalized.

I'm not perfect and sometimes while typing I make mistakes, but we can tell by your posts that you need some serious grammar and English education. BTW I went to East Side School. But I would in no way say one of the schools is better than another.

<quoted text>Who pays "The same" school taxes? It's based on property assessment and tax rates. The taxes that I pay are different than my neighbors' and other people that I know. Through the years, Fowler's taxes....town and county have been lower than Gouv. Macomb and other surrounding towns. I am not sure what Fowler's tax rate is now that the mines has been shut down. Also, Fowler does not have to pay village taxes...rightly so. Although, Gouv. village residents have to pay town taxes. I will refrain from calling you a name....name calling tells something about your mentality and your manners.
Town taxes have nothing to do with school taxes. You are arguing about town taxes. They never said everyone pays the same dollar amount. But you are in the wrong jumping to conclusions.

Regardless of what you say, the idea is, "we are talking about taxes." Fowler taxpayers have had less taxes to pay throughout the years, therefore they probably don't mind paying the extra school taxes on a school that is not necessary to operate. It's not just about the money. There are benefits to having more than one grade level classroom in a school. Just ask the teachers....they will tell you the benefits. My conclusion is.....save the taxpayers money, and put the students with other students in their same grade level. It will be good for the students and good for the taxpayers.

i pay just under $1200 in school taxes.. the same rate as everyone in the Gouverneur school district..some people pay more some pay less. it depends on the value of your home. not the town you live in..we are all in the same school district paying the same percent of our home value.

now to stay on topic the school is probably not "needed" any longer..but..what is it going to cost to close it? how is it going to affect grants and other monies coming into the district? do we want to totally end our schools systems diversity by no longer offering the the small "out of town" grade school that gives over 100 of our kids the chance to start out with a lesser negative peer pressure/influence? has anyone looked into the crime/drug use rates of young adults that started out in a smaller school against those who started out in a larger school..drop out rates ect...? i dont claim to know the answer to any of these questions. im only saying they should be answered before the school is closed.

The things is, if the school system would have left the 6th graders in the elementary school where they BELONG we wouldn't be having an issue keeping the classrooms filled!! 6th graders do not belong at the high school, they are too young and to easily influenced!!

Yes, they should close Fowler. Fowler residents complain about it closing, however, their taxes have been much lower than Gouv. residents' taxes for years. Also, I would like to mention that the classroom sizes at Fowler have been lower than East and West Side for years, ex. 15-18 students in a class vs. 22-28 students at East and West Side. Hopefully they will close it.
NO THEY SHOULD NOT CLOSE IT.... Reason... Fowler school takes more time with students needs because they are small. I have seen children go to jr high school more calculatedly prepared. I a pose closing this school. I had my kids go there years ago as I did and now all my children have graduated high school. Say what you want but class rooms are now over crowed and teachers cannot do more one on one with students. Not that they do not want to do so, but just not enough time. And for TAXES we pay in Fowler for school tax is the same as is in town. Now are land tax maybe lower but we do not water and sewer upkeep.

Listen, The school is closing at the end of the year. The Board has already decided, they have no other choice.

All these meetings are is show, to make you people think you can have a say.

Its a done deal, the savings are too much not to close it. All said and done your looking at a savings of $600-$800 thousand a year.

Your right, you can express your opinion. I am just telling you that we have already made our mind up. We are closing it at the end of this school year. Sorry if you don't like it, but its not going to change.
