I don't think parents are afraid as you say and you amoung others are taking things out of context and making a pathetic story line out of it all. I see parents who should be given the access to education that they pay for and desire. Think a little bit more time outside your space would do you wonders. Nobody is comparing the village schools to the city. Most comments on here are driven by people puttin words in peoples mouths and making more out of it than the parents from Fowler. The BOE is not done and whether they closed it or not they are not looking out for students education as education comes before sports and any extra curricular activities. Quit trying to bully people with your "tough" talk - all of the ones on here. Some worse than others.
I agree and would like to add to what you said. They make it sound as though they are personally funding Fowler school, when in fact Fowler residents pay every bit as much in school taxes as village residents. Should Fowler residents say we aren't going to fund your town schools?

Yo Spilmans, its not your private school. We don't care what you think.
Your comments on here rank right up there with your comments on other topics. You are a buffoon who needs to take a step back and realize your comments are hurtful to people and are no way shape or form adding anything but anger and anguish to this one. I just did some checking and your comments on the fire topic are pathetic to say the least. I can see that your heart is stuck up your ass and it will be hard to get it out with your head plugging the hole.

<quoted text>The BOE is NOT a joke of a group. It would be a joke to keep a school open for 116 students, when some of those students are actually bused from Gouv. because of parent requests, and also when East Side has 6 empty classrooms. It's also a joke that classrooms at Fowler have had fewer students in a class than East and West Side. Class size should be evenly distributed throughout the school system. That is a no brainer. We have a smart BOE that made the right decision! Fowler parents need to "grow up".
AMEN. THANK YOU.

Because instead of these 116 kids being distributed on already running buses, they are sending out EXTRA buses just for them. Holy Christ people.

My lord. If 'Fowler Parents' are this afraid to send their children to the East and West Side, Id hate to see you send them to the Jr High from little Fowler for 6th grade! Look, youre acting younger than your children. The BOE did the right thing. Village schools arent Compton battle grounds andy we are finished funding your private school.
Exactly. What happens then? Doesn't a hell of a lot of bullying start in the prime of puberty and middle school? Geez integrate them to know each other earlier and maybe the future generation of Gouverneur won't be such jackasses

I'm watching YNN now, and the Utica school district, just like all schools in NYS are facing cuts. Be grateful your child isn't sardines in a class of 30+ children and teachers getting cut. When there are empty rooms in another school that can bring in rooms from a school that is just barely holding any students it is the only smart move.

First off the choices of words is poor as many of you continue to refer to the Fowler School as private. If you take a moment and research real facts other than research how to misinform people with falsehoods you would sound a little more educated. Fowler Schools is part of the Gouverneur School District and is paid for by residents within the district. The residents within the district pay taxes to fund all schools, teachers salaries, teachers insurance and pensions for 90 year old retired teachers and all other costs including maintenance, bussing, etc. Bullying starts in Kindergarten and continues all the way to adulthood as these comments on topix are proof. If you feel that the future generation may not end up like such jackasses where do you fall in the current one? You are now talking about something that is over with and just trying to stir up people's emotions for your thrill. Big people are you. The BOE did what they felt was right. Do all agree...no. Surely you have some string of decency left on your sleeve for the student, parents, faculty and town that will lose their school, some their job and many something they cherish. This is not about who is right or wrong after the fact. The BOE was voted in and can be voted out. Some will take notice to who said what and who talks outside meetings and makes mockery of serious situation that affect taxpayers who put them in that seat. Now stepping down from the podium and will go on my daily routine. I just cannot stand the comments, immaturity and finger pointing from so many who like to call themselves adults. To some it is like losing a loved one to a degree - it takes time to get over it. Don't try to bully everyone so much.

Bullying who? If a school is running at that low of a capacity, then it's running as a private school would. It's an analogy, a SIMILARITY. your children will survive end of discussion. And yeah, you ALL voted the BOE in, but I don't think any of you on here complaining will be running for any of the positions, am I right? Because good lord, you make a decision to better everything as a whole, and unlike précis thought that it was an "easy" decision you will be crucified one way or the other. Every complaint on here from "no parking" for school events, to "the kids won't adjust" is complete bs. They adjust just fine when you FORCE them to move on to middle school, right? Or do they stop at fifth grade? What's YOUR solution, since you seem to have one?

No you are the one with the immature attitudes. How are we being immature because we don't want our school to close? And I highly doubt your child could have went there but you chose not to let them considering you are complaining about it not being fair that the class size there is so much smaller than gouverneur schools. Good try though. However like I said before I'm sure when it comes time for the sports programs to be cut or the things that your kids like you will be the first one to stand up and complain and fight to keep it justlike you would if they decided to close one of the 3 schools in town and it was your child's. Then you would be the immature one standing up for your child right?

Wrong....Not jealous. BTW my children could have gone there. You are an embarrassment to the Fowler school if that is where you went. You certainly need to learn correct grammar and spelling. You also need to learn to have a more mature attitude. From what I and many can see, there are many immature Fowler parents out there, especially Mrs. Fenlong who is very sarcastic and made RIDICULOUS statements at the board meeting. With an attitude like yours, your children must be learning your "name calling" and "bad attitude" habits. They certainly are not being brought up and influenced by mature and respectable people. I'm sure it shows.
Read you posts and check the definition of immature. You are crossing that line again when you can so immaturely mention people's names and leave your name off. You are far from mature and respected yourself. Go look in your mirror and see the selfish person is looking back at you. Pathetic.

To "Moron" and "Unbelievable"...Not accepting the fact that Fowler is closing, and calling people names, and cutting down the board is in fact "immature". You both are bullies, and we are trying to deal with the bully problem in our schools. To "Unbelievable"... Mrs. Fenlong's name is in the Watn. Times article with her statements. If not putting our names on the posts means that one is immature, than I guess I am right....you are immature. But I would not call that immature. I call bullying and name calling immature. You two need to get over the fact that Fowler is closing, and your children will either go to East or West Side, unless you home school, move away, or send them to St. James. If you are so set on a private school, and you do not mind spending more money (taxes) then you might consider St. James. As you can see only 40 people attended the BOE meeting, and a percentage of them were opposed to closing the school. Well MANY MANY more people are FOR the closure of Fowler School. You must learn that you cannot always get your own way....now that IS IMMATURE to think that you can.

Just to let you know I was just informed of this "site" and I use that term loosely. You shoudl be ashamed of yourself for posting as much as you do on here. I felt compelled to make one statement as I feel you ( along with others ) are using screen names to bully people and make yourself feel better. Somehow I do not understand the reason you would ever want to get on this site and spread and say such garbage. Your parents would(not) be proud of you. Go do something useful with your life and leave this site to die off. It is nothing but a cesspool for filth, lies, deceit and a place for people ( like you ) to make an arguement that you will never win as you are basically a ghost with your "screen names." Before you say anythign about mine - I would never stoop down and give you my name or post it on here for fear of your unleashed sarcasm and rudeness would take it and run. Good day - some of us have work and pay those taxes you so arrogantly talk about.

To "Unbelievable".....w hen I was your age, I was working full time. Surely I would not have had the time to be on the computer. My parents are very proud of me.... graduated from college, worked many years, raised a family, and now I am retired. Therefore I have done something useful with my life, and continue to do so.
This site is for "ANYONE" to give their opinion. I post whenever I wish, and I do not have to be bullied otherwise. I am stating facts, not garbage.
It amazes me how much time young mothers who don't work, and also those who do, spend on their computers. Raising my children, I had much more to do than be on the computer. It's a new generation, and not for the better.

Well hate.to burst your bubble but my child goes to westside! Apparently you think we are immature ands Bullys but the one on the other page calling a 7-8 year old child vulgar names is doing nothing wrong right? Why don't you read the whole post before you make your comments. How about all the ones running down Fowler residents saying they don't pay enough school taxes to have a say on what goes on? Well guess what they pay just as much as gouverneur residents do. And Fowler is not a private school the BEO decides who goes to Fowler nobody else so if you wants answers ask them about it! You can thinking immature all you want but you don't know me and I don't know you so I really don't care what you think if you don't like my opinion don't read it!

If you call sitting on Topix doing something useful I would like to meet you. Your parents would not be proud of you for you current actions as you just described a retired ninny. You are adding to the cesspool of filth and to down grade young mothers as a whole is hideous and downright disprespectful and that should help you realize what level you are dropping down to. The older generation made the current generation honey and therefore you are to blame so stick that finger right back at yourself. You are obviously retired and semi senile.
