I have the misfortune of working with retired E-7, E-8 and E-9 employees now as well as in the past and would like to vent about these idiots.

Without exception, they come out of the military with the misconception that anyone actually gives a rat's ass about their past station in life. You are civilian now, pot belly-get used to it!

They love to find other chiefs and sit around on their flabby asses and reminince about the old days. Meanwhile, someone has to do the work that they are supposed to be doing.

They look puzzled when they attempt to bark an order or otherwise order someone around and are promptly told to Fk off. This confuses them.

I would say that 95% of the ones that I have worked for through the years have double digit IQ's and triple digit belly size. If you are an employer out there, stay clear of these primadonnas.

Yeah, some of 'em are real knuckleheads, but you get one or two that are still all about the can-do spirit & actually DID some work one or two times in the past.

You're right about the balding, pot-belly syndrome, though. Almost to a MAN, this is the way they start looking @ 50.

They also almost all have the obligatory "US NAVY CHIEF" licence plate frame and a couple of lame ass Chief bumper stickers like "US NAVY CPO RETIRED". And of course there is the mandatory "ONCE A CHIEF ALWAYS A CHIEF" ball cap or the always popular "INITIATED AND PROUD US NAVY CHIEF" T-shirt. What a bunch of delusional, pompous, self righteous asswipes! It's like "look at me, I am so important" when in reality, most people are laughing at the morons. I must wonder if the "initiation" involves some sort of lobotomy that removes the part of the brain the controls modesty and ego and replace it with some sort of clone device that makes them all act like blow hard assholes.

I love the look on one the idiot's face when they first get out and try to order someone around and are promptly told to fk off-classic-LOLLOLLOLLOL!!!! Dumbfounded-what? A mere mortal questions the direct order of a Chief? Yes dumbass-i question everything about you including your mental capacity. Go sit in a corner and ram that anchor up your flabby ass and twist it a bit. Then take out your charge book and jerk off to it.

This is really sad. I have much love and respect for all of those past and present who have served in our armed forces. I know I am certainly not willing to put my life on the line but I am so glad we have people who have the gonads to do it.

A humble thank you to all who have served and the families who have to go without a father, brother, husband while they are away serving. I could not imagine having to go through that.

Such disrespect.

Well, yeah, we all do, but have you ever had to actually WORK with one of these bozos? Not every member of the military is a shining light of Freedom, Democracy, Compassion, & Understanding.

I an currently Enlisted in the navy. And i must say i do agree with the civilians on this one. Chiefs are fat lazy has beens who think that people owe them somthing for their own descision to do 20 years in yhe navy. They think they are badasses and they are most definatley not ... The smart sailors are the ones that get out. But i will say that navy deployment is not at all a party or a cdke walk, they are extrememy hard with terrible living conditions, it is a massive sacrifice. But they are no war heros like chiefs seem to think they are.

hey sailor no bad on you. i respect people who serve thier time in the military and get out. its the career leech chiefs who get me. you see it and you are right that smart people serve and get out. the chiefs of the world find a canoe club that they like and can pretend to be in charge of. being at sea is hard for sure. the chiefs are posers for real heroes. take that anchor, coffee cup, khaki set, and charge book away and you see them for what they are-lard bellied turds who can;t make it in the outside

It's not just navy chiefs, it's the same with all lifer military people. They stay in because they are basically taken care of (like welfare leeches), they don't really have to make any decisions so they live in a self styled cacoon. After 20 years they retire and double dip, its disgusting. Sequestration twentyfold is needed.

DEVOTE? HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!
YOU SPEND 20 YEARS ON THE TIT AND CALL IT DEVOTION?
THE ONLY WORTHY CAUSE YOU CHIEFS HAVE IS YOUR OWN PRESERVING YOUR LAZY SECURITY AND PERPETUATING YOUR FANTASY THAT CHIEFS ARE IN SOME SPECIAL CATAGORY.
LISTEN CLOSELY CHIEF MORON YOUR CAREER OF NIBBLING ON THE GUBERNMENT TIT IS NOT DEVOTION

FYI, I am not a chief. That being said, you put civilians in a bad light. YOU are the leech and YOU are the one who sits around doing nothing. I seriously doubt you pay the taxes that I do as you do not sound like anyone capable of working at a decent job long enough to earn very much. Now for my next point, who was talking to you? I would rather talk to the Bay county trash than to the likes of you. You are probably the same person anyway. If it were not for the hard working military you would not be enjoying the freedoms you do.

I am a retired USAF Master Sergeant (same as a Navy CPO). I work with, and am surrounded by, dozens of active-duty and retired Chiefs and above...and let me tell you, they are all fat, lazy idiots--for the most part. They all seem to be stuck on themselves, as if becoming a Navy Chief is like being Knighted by the queen or something, LOL.

In the Air Force, when you are promoted to E-7, you are given a LOT more responsibility, more is expected of you, but the "perks" and "bennies" are next to none. You wear the EXACT same uniform as your lower enlisted Airmen, and you do not walk around with a charge book, clip board, pot belly gut and coffee cup all day yelling at people either. We actually work for a living (most of us).

However, I do believe that if you've never served in the military, then you shouldn't judge. Whether you agree with me or not, I think ANY service to our country is DEVOTION; especially 20+ years of it...and there are too many people "judging" here who may have never quite had the courage to even get through boot camp, let alone live combat, or even mortars or Scud Missiles blowing up even a quarter mile away.

I agree with the OP, on the pompass-ass current and past CPOs. I live and work in Pensacola and am SURROUNDED by them. But let's not start bashing them FOR THEIR SERVICE.

I agree-I said nothing about the rank E-7..........just chiefs. The "rank" or "position" of chief has been elevated to some sort of cult status-rediculous!!! The other services do not create this artificial pompous pedestal. I have also worked with retired E-7 through E-9 of other services with no problems. It's not the rank, it's the pedestal

Sounds like a few bitter never could be, never would have beens......trying to make themselves feel better about the fact that they were not willing to or didn't have what it took to stand up and defend/serve this Great Country that
Provides them the privilege to bash those that did....... or maybe this is someone that's just trying to convince them selves that they never wanted to be a Chief Petty Officer, when in reality they came up short when measured/tested for the Potential to be a Chief Petty Officer

Not only are Navy Chiefs the backbone of the U.S. Navy, they also are the backbone of the world!
Yes, as you all previously mentioned - you work with chiefs (retired or active duty), you hear people talking about Navy Chiefs, and a Navy Chief may be your neighbor. Some are fit, some are fat, all are smarter then you will ever be. Every time you turn your head you see or hear about a Navy Chief.
For those inconsiderate individuals that continue to envy, the Goat Locker will continue to display our colors proudly in any way we can. Pouring salt your wounds of envy, and pain as in penetrates your wishing wanting to become a United States Navy Chief Petty Office!!!!!
Eat your heart out!!!!

Yeah look, if your brave enough to speak about your colleagues then walk the walk. Point it out to them, tell them they are lazy, ignorant and probably a bit condescending. I have seen too many in the Chief's mess that do sit on their arses and are do nothings. And those that decided to be like that would hear it from me.

There is nothing wrong with being proud of achievements and for some that achievement may end with the US Navy letting them to become a Chief. I've heard it said that people usually reach the level of their incompetency and stop (and usually) there.

The fact that they are your work colleagues and they are not pulling their weight (and true some may be a bit over the weight limit) is not right.(perception is your reality) But instead of bitching about it, step up and do something about it. If you can't, shut the hell up and get over it.
