If you don't like Gosnell schools MOVE! And if you don't work there or your kids don't go to school there it's really none of your business who they hire. This is just some Blytheville person mad because we hired a Blytheville employee.... Hello they applied, so what does that tell you. Furthermore why wouldn't we hire a coach that can also teach math????? It saves money we get 2 for one. And to the dummy who keeps arguing, you are wrong he was not hired as a math teacher he was hired as a coach and yes he might teach a few matg classes. however , the math position was filled by so girl from manila! A coach and a Math teacher were hired. So why the heck do you care if the coach teaches a math class??? You just want to complain!

gosnell hired a new coach who is coming from blytheville this year, the problem is he will also be teaching algebra 1 for half the school day, problem is he has no certification in algebra then why did they hire him to teach a subject without the certification? answer because he is a coach, why did they not hire the certified math teachers that applied for the job? because they care more about coaching then a tested subject like math that's why,so dont talk about what you dont know

Their scores are not bad, but they don't outperform Armorel. I don't know if you know how to read the data. They had to hire JBHM to help them get out of school improvement just a few years ago. They have problems like any other school.

I know how to read data. You are correct about them having to hire JBHM. I am guessing you understand the state standards game and the guidelines of no child left behind that were in place at that time. JBHM was needed because of special special education. When the scores were broken down strand by strand special education did not show enough growth.( although they did show some growth). The combined population test scores were somewhere in the 80th percentile. Our scores were actually higher them most schools in the county but we were still on school improvement because of special education test scores. I am not saying that Gosnell is problem free, no school is free of obstacles. My point was that Gosnell is doing something right because they don't have the small classes or parent involvement that schools like Armorel and Manila do, yet they still seem to overcome.

It angers me that people get on here to bad mouth the school that they are sending their kids to yet, they have the choice to send them somewhere else. There are so many parents who would love to have their kids attend Gosnell and would not complain. I challenge all you complainers to send your kids somewhere else and then you will see just how good you have it. I know because I have been in that situation and I appreciate Gosnell school so much more because I no what's on the other side of the fence.

You keep saying the same thing! I know what I am talking about! You don't know what kind of math the man will be teaching. FYI- he taught math at Blytheville! I am guessing you wanted the job and didn't get hired????? If you don't have kids at Gosnell then don't worry about it, and if you do and don't like it, get to packing! Really your kids need the best possible education they can get and you don't feel Gosnell is it so go.......

The fact is most people who are not in the education field have no idea what's going on or the reasoning behind why schools do the things they do. There are rules, guidelines, tons of paper work. Teachers can no longer teach they have to teach how the state says to teach . And in the middle of trying to teach they have to be mom, dad, protector, and counselor to the kids and many times the parents as well. What Gosnell schools need are more supportive parents and less moaning and groaning. You people have no clue the things teachers and administrators see and deal with daily, yet your big complaint is that they like to hire coaches. I don't see anyone talking about how several Gosnell teachers and COACHES have taken in other kids to their homes and treated them as their own or the countless number if times teachers pay for field trips, spend there own money on treats and activies for the kids, buy shoes, clothes, and food for kids. Gosnell is not perfect no school is but it is a good school and the staff really do love those kids ALL of them!

They don't teach algebra in 7th grade which is what he is teaching.. He is I obviously certified in math since he taught the same thing at Blytheville for three years!! You can't teach outside of your certification that long..

If they were not qualified the school would have to by law send out a letter letting parents know that while they are a certified teacher they are not certified in that subject, you would have already gotten it! We got one no one of elementary teachers. That the teacher had a valid teaching certificate but was getting certification in another area while teaching that's class, I think it was like art or counseling. But anyway my point is yes they ate certified or you would have gotten a letter by now. You can't listen to these dummies on topix, they are just jelous!!
