Gosnell School Lunches

[Wondering]

Did any one fill out the lunch room surveys that were sent home with our kids? Finally a chance to comment on what they call "lunches"

I went to school there...and never saw a problem with their lunches...and not alot of kids seemed to...they fight to get to the front of the line to be first to get the food....i think the only bad thing they served were the hamburgers...

my daughter said they some mexican chicken and mexican cornbread one day this week and it was so hot she could not eat it,and you are right the kids to fight to be fisrt in line,and she complains
about the food being cold everyday she hates lunch
there...

It must have been awhile since you have eaten lunch there.Not trying to start trouble. They sent the survey home ,they want in put. My kids are in elementry & I have been there at lunch. Friday the pizza was room temp.Everything is eiher frozen or out of a can. No imagination of the menus. What kind of lunch is mac & cheese, a roll, green beans & canned fruit??? This is just one of many questionable lunches.

First no it hasn't been that long since I went....and two just because the elementry may be bad doesn't mean the whole school is...my grandmother is a lunch lady there and if you have something bad to say about them then to do it there faces and instead of starting shit on here....this doesn't solve a damn thing does it... NO!!!

Lunches are not the same anymore due to government guidelines.

If you've never worked in a lunchroom, then I doubt you have any idea what all it takes to prepare the lunches. There are so many guidelines it is unreal. Everyone talks about being creative but you have to factor in what meals cost to prepare. The fact is, most kids will walk through the door and ask for the same foods day after day. The meal of mac & cheese, green beans, roll, and fruit just happens to not only meet government guidelines but also is one of the kids favorite meals. Lots of parents do not cook these days and yet they expect the school lunch program to do what they don't take the time to do at home. Did you know that the elementary lunchroom prepares and feeds over 250 for breakfast and over 700 students for lunch and does that from 6:30 to 1:30 everyday. Try it and then maybe you will make more of a lasting impression with your comments.

Of course you have the right to your opinion. It is just always helpful if you know what you are talking about. Unless you have worked in a school lunchroom, you have no idea what the process is and what you are talking about. Why don't you just go to the school and tell them you would like to work in the kitchen for a couple of days and see what goes on.
