I was wondering.. used to have my kids in scouts. How come you don't do more fundraisers to raise money so they can do more activties? This group is the biggest joke I've seen for scouts in a long time. If anyone has a chance, take your boys elsewhere! My kids got tired of it after about 6 months. One hung in there for a year HOPING it got better and nothing ever changed. What a shame.. the leaders should do more for these boys, they go there to learn, the parents put in time helping these boys earn their badges and all the leaders do is what they absolutely have to. Check out Zeiglers scouts.. they are always doing something.. even Marion's boys are. Again, leaders, please do something more for these boys.... they DESERVE IT!!!!!!!
thank you

thank you for your input and we are trying to better our pack. We have brought new leaders in and have many new ideas to strengthen the pack. Any suggestions are helpful its not gonna happen overnight but it will happen. With parent involvement also anything can be accomplished

Parents if u feel the pack isn't up to par become a leader and get involved more. When my oldest son was in scouts I was a leader all the way til he was a boy scout. I have a 5 yr old now and that's the only thing I miss about goreville is the scouts. Now I have to start looking for another troop where I live. I live close to 25 miles south now but if all fails I will go back to gville and become a leader.
Do your part then

If you feel that the scouts are not up to par then you should step up and help. Most of the leaders are doing their best to make sure things get done for the boys. They are parents themselves and most work full time jobs and do this out of the kindness of their hearts. I know there are a few leaders that no longer have kids in the age ranges for scouts, yet they still continue to volunteer their time to keep this program going! I understand there may be more that could be done, but if you have time to gripe about it, then you have time to make it better!!!!

actually I don't have time to help out. I work 2 jobs and when I'm not doing that, I'm taking care of my children and my elderly grandmother. Plus I'm a single mother on top of it. IF I had the time, I would be more than happy to help out. So before you go judging me "DO YOUR PART".. maybe you should get all the facts first. thanks. I'm done with this subject. I wish the troops all the best this year and know they always have my support as I always donate from them and buy when they are selling. Its the least I can do.

maybe you should get your facts straight because you wanted to trash the scouts first.I really could care less what you do on a daily basis, all the leaders have lives and children too and still step up to help out. You might wanna choose your words wisely and watch what you say. Maybe you should look in the mirror and "judge" yourself before you start bashing an organization that is for children, not parents to act ignorant.

Goreville Boy Scouts was a joke when my son went. Tried to suggest new things, leaders wouldn't listen. Meetings EVERY week??? Most weeks they just ran around and played. They need to get some fun things going and "new blood" in there. The Cook lady needs to retire, let parents liven it up.

my comment was sarcastic, I wasn't meaning to really complain more. It's funny how people think this site is going to help solve their problems. It's just plain gossip
