Memories of Ranger Texas

I wonder if there are any of my fellow students Hodges Oak Park elementary school still alive. I attended this wonderful school from 1936 to 1941. Mrs Strain was the principal and Dutch Ervin was my favorite teacher. As a kid I fell in love with a pretty little thing by the name of Betty Jo Wheat. My Dad was pastor of the little Church of the Nazarene in those days until we moved to California in 1942. I would be delighted to share memories with anyone back "home" in Ranger.

My twin sister and I attended Hodges Oak Park 1974 to 1977. Mrs Singleton was the principal and Mrs Meredith was my 1st grade teacher. My old
class mate took me on "tour" of the old school ground when the school was demolished. My friend said people were walking around picking up old school lunch tickets and other "souveniers" of the past. The football stadium is still in "back" of where Hodges Oak Park used to stand.
My best friend is a teacher in Ranger now, but the town is so small that there is one school building for grades K - 12. Ranger Junior College is now a four year school, but the nearest hospital is in Eastland now, with Care-flight going out of Ranger. The people there are still the dearest, and Ranger will always be "home" even though I am now in Lafayette, Louisiana with my husband and children.
