Voters prepare for first levy elections since rule change

Voters in 12 area school districts will be among the first to exercise a new rule setting the threshold for passing school levy requests when they weigh in on the Feb. 19 special election.

I'm the sort of person who thinks 30% taxation is way too high. This is the sort of thing that doesn't raise taxes, but keeps them high. I believe in education and I think kids need a good education, but I also think that taxes are way out of control. So I will vote against this levy in the interest of reducing my taxes. I will also vote against all taxes, new and old, until the total tax burden is reduced below 20%. I encourage my fellow citizens to do the same.
