How do you feel about living in the west valley?

With the constant construction of new housing developments and the accompanying churches, schools, and strip malls "needed" for the growing population; the entire west valley is barely recognizable from what it was just 6 years ago.

Not only are the population and traffic (road construction) issues beginning to be a problem, but I had phenomenal problems with this "new" school district in the past.

My daughter was scheduled to enter a special "communications disorders" program in our previous district (at age 6, 80% of her speech is still unintelligible). After almost a full year of fighting they finally agreed to provide her services. I finally won, but not until two weeks before the last school year ended.

I just wonder how many of you moved to the west valley and now greatly regret your decision. What kind of problems have you encountered since moving here? If you had the power, what would you do to make things better?

Ditto! Fortunately for us we got out just in time, September 2007. We know we are one of the lucky ones.

my wife and I experienced the same growth problems in Las Vegas Nv.We lived there for 30 years. We chose Goodyear knowing it was in a growth stage.
We still love Goodyear despite it's problems. We have lived here for 4 years, and think it is still the best area in the valley.
Yes there are problems, but the city is doing the best it can, given the circumstances.
I too, have issues with some things, but there are problems everywhere in the country where growth is happening.
My wife and I look forward to spending our remaining years here in Goodyear.Sorry you can't deal with it.

I moved out here 3 years ago from central phx and feel that there is a lot of opportunity here for self starters and entrepreneurs. The investment in our homes seems more likely to appreciate here than in other areas too.

Hmm... I don't believe that's what I said. I "regret" moving here. It's becoming more and more hazardous as well. With so many people legally spending their "remaining years" behind the wheel of a car. I hear Sun City is nice. The smart old people drive golf carts. Can't kill a family of 4 in a golf cart.

Sorry if I misunderstood you.My point was to say that no matter where you live, there will be problems. As far as our "remaining years"my wife and I are not "golf cart"material.I'll stick with my pickup and my wife's suv.Oh,by the way,we haven't had an accident behind the wheel since a 35yo woman hit me while talking on her cell phone.

We just moved to Goodyear 2 months ago. The local newspaper really supports all the crime taking place in Avondale & Goodyear. Not news that is really talked about on TV. Apparently there are alot of new sub-division break ins as well so be watchful of activities taking place in your neighborhoods. Particularly if you have vacant homes around you. We had close friends move into a new sub-division Avondale Blvd & Buckeye within 20 days of being there crooks broke into the home and cleaned them out. Unbelievable. I would also petition your HOAs to put some type of lighting in the greenbelt areas, a perfect place for all kinds of activity and potential entry points for the crooks.
