I voted for Joshua Evans for my state representative. If the voters of Robertson County would look at the General Assembly's website they would see that Joshua Evans was at the very bottom of the list in spending and many days took no per diem at all. A man is entitled to meals and gas expenses, especially when a job pays less than $20,000 per year. Don't believe everything you hear! Read and find the truth for yourself. Joshua Evans is a man of integrity. I am so tired of all of the malicious LIES that have been filling my mailbox. Billy Paul Carneal and the Democratic party should be ashamed of themselves.

Billy Paul Carneal is vastly more experienced than his opponent. Unlike his opponent, you can't rightly accuse him of being a family values hypocrite, or a fiscal conservative hypocrite.

Evans lives 24 miles from the State Capitol, yet he billed the taxpayers $35,000 to stay overnight in Nashville (nearly everyday for three months straight- what is that about?). He's one of the closest legislators to the State House, yet he's ranked number 5 in per diem expenses. That information is public record and can be found at Tennessee Office of Legislative Administration. He runs as a fiscal conservative, then parties with our money. There's no excuse for that kind of hypocrisy. Period!

On the other hand, you've got a very nice man and a competent leader in Billy Paul Carneal. Billy Paul calls himself a fiscal conservative too, but unlike his opponent, you can find consistent evidence of fiscal conservatism in his history. After he set up the city manager position in Springfield, there hasn't been a single tax increase since 1988, and he's been the deciding vote to keep taxes at the same 1988 rate many times, and as recently as a few months ago. Despite this, Springfield budgets are always balanced and we have very good public works services. How many governors and mayors can you think of with a track record that good? THAT is leadership, and that is what Tennessee needs in a time like this.

Billy Paul's opponent talks about jobs, but Billy Paul actually helped to bring them- thousands of them to our county!

Look at the facts, put these candidates side by side, and make your decision. If you choose party boy, well, then God save our republic.

Evans is a spoiled child whose "christian" values enabled him to maintain his first marriage for less than two years. Evans is controlled by the TN GOP.

The statements being made about Evans being a small business owner are proposterous as he owns the ups store. The rent alone on the building are more than the net profits.
Yes taxpayers of Robertson County you in fact have maintained the ups store with his per diem requests.

I support Billy Paul, but you need to back up that attack with something solid and specific to Rep. Evans, and not tout such conspiratorial dribble while cowering behind the curtain of cyber space.

Billy Paul's supporters like him because he is measured and pragmatic. The wing nut is unmistakably his opponent. Don't give the enemy ammo by conjuring ridiculous character attacks.

Some should not. Experience sometimes lends itself to robery and hiding it well. Like the new ad that came out yesterday. Local Government is the one that set the Hotel Motel tax.
