Anyone else see a conflict of interest here? Dare a person from Lake Crystal support the other candidate for Tony Cornish’s seat? I understand that Tony Cornish has his officers target people that do.

Frankly, I have never heard an allegation that Sheriff Cornish instructs his officers to target the opposition. The police force is relatively small and so is their jurisdiction. Heck, if they were going to target somebody it would be me … after all, Cornish’s pick-up truck has a bumper stick “Honk, if you want to pay more taxes”.. so I honk whenever I go by.

That stated, generally, most people have strong opinions about Representative Cornish … many like him, while many don’t like his policies. He has not represented HD 24-B very well … just ask the people needing water infrastructure improvements in Vernon Center and Waldorf.

Voters will have a choice in November. Mark D. Meyer of Lake Crystal will be on the ballot representing the Independence Party … Meyer is well known in Lake Crystal having served on the Lake Crystal School Board.
The DFL also has a candidate Joan Muth-Milks of Wells. She is a nurse and has been active in DFL for years.

I find it difficult to believe Rep. Tony Cornish has his officers target persons based on political views. Granted he isn’t terribly intelligent (given past statements he had made) when it comes to his politics and police work, but I do however have to draw the line at thinking he would do that. I hope he gets his act together and decides if he wants to be a politician or a police officer. I am just glad my tax dollars aren’t supporting his part-time hobby as police chief of Lake Crystal, MN.
