PLEASE - NPR have some class. The real trail of tears was something to cry about! To trivialize that event in our US history insults the indigenous people of our land. Please... Think... Not every catch phrase catches people the same way. Whoever wrote that, and who ever proofed it for print would benefit from US history for dummies. You would never compare removing snow to removing an entire population of peoples that is truly insensitive.

The Trail of Tears Reference has nothing to do with snow removal. You obviously did not read or listen to the story. The Trail of Tears is referencing a group of Indians traveling by horseback from South Dakota and arriving at Mankato on December 26, the 150th anniversary of the hanging of 38 Dakota Indians. I do believe such a journey is worthy to be called a Trail of Tears.
