My new foot wiping mat outside the house reads,

Now this is totaly unaceptable. Democrats need victims. Police need criminals. Prisons need convicts. Probation officers need clients. Judges need cases to hear. Politicians need mahem so they can pass new laws. What are you people thinking in letting people try to protect themsleves? Are you trying to ruin the economy or what's left of it?

Sorry, the thought of defending my family from intruders made me think for a moment.
From now I will let the state protect me and do all my thinking for me.

From a reader watching the goings-on at the Capitol yesterday, apparently Republican Rep. Tony Cornish had some interesting things to say about his "shoot first" initiative:
Rep. Cornish was OUT OF CONTROL today in Public Safety Committee. His "shoot first" bill had a hearing. Before the hearing even started, he indicated that everyone who was there to testify against the bill (including the police and police chiefs) were liars. Later in the meeting, he referred to the national Brady Bill anti-violence organization (highly respected by both parties) as "the Brady Bunch." And he was on WCCO (Ed. note: here's that piece) where his solution to the woman who was raped in Woodbury two days ago was, "you can't rape a .38."
We should be working to make rape completely unacceptable in our society. There is absolutely no effort at preventing sexual violence in the legislature right now. Minnesota women shouldn't have to carry a gun to keep themselves safe from sexual violence. What we shouldn't do is say that somehow a rape victim is at fault because she wasn't carrying a gun, rape whistle, or anything else.
Some of the first-timers who were recently elected to the Legislature can almost be forgiven their trespasses against state law, legislative regulation, and human decency. After all, they don't have a lot of experience with how to actually govern. But Cornish has been around for a while, and should know that when he says things like this, people are going to hear it.
Does the truth hurt, Joe? If so too bad.

I'm not intending to get on you this time tom, but that sign is not a good idea. What it does is tell people you have guns in your house and invites a break-in when nobody is home just to steal your guns.

A Biblical Response to

Those Who Say We Should Disarm; to

Those Who Teach Pacifism; to

Those Who Think the Bible Has Nothing to Say About Arms

by Pastor Matt Trewhella

Genesis 4:8-12 In this passage, Scripture records the first murder wherein
Cain killed Abel. That Cain must have used some sort of weapon to kill Abel
is evidenced by the fact that Abel was bleeding (he was not strangled). Notice
how God responded to the killing. He did not institute some sort of weapon-control,
rather, He punished the one who committed the crime.

Exodus 20 and following In His holy Law, which God decreed at Sinai, nowhere do
you see God outlawing weapons in regards to the various crimes which He prohibited
in His legislation. He always punishes the perpetrator. He never disarms the citizenry.

Exodus 22:2 In this verse, God declares that if someone breaks into your house at
night and you kill him, you are not guilty of murder. This verse makes clear that
you have a God-given right to defend yourself and to defend your family.

Deuteronomy 22:23-27 This passage deals with rape. Notice that verse 27 ends with
the words "but there was no one to save her." What is the implication of such a
statement? The implication is that had someone been around to hear her cry out,
they had a moral duty to intervene and protect her from being raped. To stand by
would be immoral. We have a God-given right to defend not only ourselves, but also
others.

Numbers 1 In His economy, God instituted an armed citizenry, not a standing army,
in order to deal with the affairs of war regarding Israel. This is what the Founding
Fathers of America envisioned for our nation. Even in Switzerland today, every home
is furnished with a machine gun (one of the reasons Hitler chose not to invade
Switzerland).

I Samuel 13:19-22 The Philistines disarmed the Israelites. Weapon-control was
instituted. No blacksmiths were allowed lest the Israelites arm themselves. A
disarmed people is the sign of a conquered people. A disarmed people is the sign of
an enslaved people.

I can tell you why many law enforcement and DA's don't like this law.
IF a raid was conducted in the middle of the night and the officer read the wrong address police could get killed. In many raids police come in wearing all black and ski masks. I know first hand that the Minneapolis police can't tell from North and South. In the past when the reading challenged raided the wrong address the police were able to keep an officer watching the door until the morning and fix it. With this law passed it is very likely that an officer would be hurt or killed.
Well, with all that tax money they have, tell the police to buy a GPS so they can get the address RIGHT!

Of course, no GPSs have ever gone missing out of searched or impounded cars.

Seriously, if I was a police officer, about to bust in the door of a home I have a warrant to enter, I would want to double and triple check the address...

...just like I would double and triple check that my safety was off.

This is liberal lala land. I wouldn't bet a lengthy prison sentence on a jury letting me off for (rightfully) blowing some looser's head off.

How can the government give me a right that I already have? That is the right to protect myself and my family. This is a God given right and cannot be given or taken away by any damned government. Anyone that invades my home will not leave alive. I ALREADY HAVE THE RIGHT.
