Mary Barbar Negy married David Jasper Gibson. They were the parents of John C, Orilla Rose, and Everett D Gibson. David was in the 142nd Infantry, 36th Div and died at age 38 in 1928. He is buried in Cherokee Municipal cemetery. I can't find a full listing of this cemetery to find if the rest of the family is buried there.
SS records indicate that a Mary Gibson died in Carmen in June 1979. Where could obit or other info be found. Z

David J. Gibson was originally a member of Company K, Oklahoma National Guard, out of Enid. This company was combined with Company A, Oklahoma National Guard out of Clinton, OK to form the new Company A, 142nd Regiment, when the Oklahoma and Texas National Guards were combined to form the 36th Infantry Division. They trained at Camp Bowie, TX (on the west edge of Ft. Worth) for about a year before shipping out to France in June of 1918. There are some excellent web sites that cover the experiences of the 36th in WWI. Just type "36th Division, World War I" into a search box and several will pop up. Sorry I can't give you any information on where the family is buried.

Thanx Jim. Found family now living in KS who sent pictures, and info. David Gibson was born in NC and ran away (reason?] He served in WW 1 and reenlisted when he got back to Camp Mills, Long Island for a year. He was stationed at Ft Dix, New Jersey. Mary's father worked on the base. They were married in 1920 in New York City. As soon as he was discharged they set out for OK. David worked for Frank McMurtrey on his farm thru the week, on Saturdays and in bad weather he traveled to Cherokee in his Dodge Touring Car for a day of working the store. It was on his way to work that his car crossed the road and turned over. There were no witnesses and he was already dead when he was found. His wife Mary died in Carmen. As far as I can tell his sons are buried near he and Mary and Rose, the only daughter is living still with her daughter Billie Root in Kansas.
