I worked Bargain Network, six months, the required probation to qualify for healthcare benefits. I'm 46 now and was 39 than. My health benefits denied due to 6 hours short of cummulated goal.
After a few months of having to read the tele prompter script 20 - 30 times in a shift, I had to leave early and take a walk into sunshine, bewildered at what a strange George Orwell 1984 job I had gotten involved. I never once saw an auction list for cars impounded by police from drug dealers, nor a list for fore closed homes. I was expected to Sell like a robot, this unseen info, whole goal to get them signed up with credit card, under pretense of paying shipping and handling. Really to bill ongoing, until they struggle to cancel.
The company let me listen to top sellers, an aggressive spanish speaking woman, who guilt tripped callers into joining, "you did call 'cause you want a car or house right?" The managers were twenty something Nazi's drunk on their power. Meetings were like, be rude to callers, rush, don't explain, memorize rebuttals, act like the DMV.
This company had no heart and soul, simply a job op for college kids to work with their underwear hanging out of their pants. Refrigerators were disgusting health risk, old spoiled abandoned food.
Comedy channel in break room to lift our withered spirits.
20 yr. old supervisor kids playing horrible club rave trance whatever music noise. Felt like being hazed in a fraternity. Scum of the Earth greedy shit company.
Eventually I got the flu, in bed for 10 days vomit and fever, had to call every day, penalty points to get you fired otherwise.
I recall laying in bed feverish and the damned script going over and over in my head. Brainwashed.
Minimum wage for maximum bullshit and sales pressure.
I hope the owners go to the opposite of heaven, they deserve it!

I saw Bargain's deceptive TV commercials on late night TV. Leading caller to think they would get a specific lead on a house or car in their area.
They managed to flood the call center, 200 employees, with incomers. Script designed to take control and manipulate caller immediately. Also calls monitored by employees to punish infractions like deviating from the script. Legal concerns over the fraud.
With the last years economic crisis and disaster, I think we've all become much more familiar with the term Foreclosure. Hopefully Bargain will go out of business or the owners taken to Supreme Court and imprisoned for misleading callers.
