Can anyone provide a population count for Kermit, and a ethnic breakdown. I have heard that the population is 70 percent or more Hispanic,is that true? I also heard that the current superintendent of the schools is a mexican who is reported to be a womanizer.

Just to show how much the town has changed. I was born and grew up in Kermit. Moved away as a freshman in 1970. During those days the population was around 13 thousand at the most with the population being 95 percent white or more. The town was clean and well kept. We had a low crime rate. It was really a nice place to live and grow up. From what I have heard the town is a mire shadow of what it used to be with everything being run down.

Bill, I graduated from Kermit in '68 and remember that it was a competitive town with Andrews. Well, Kermit hasn't prospered and kept up like some of its peer towns. Kermit looks just terrible now. My husband and I were there on June 14th this year and couldn't believe the total devastation that has taken place. If you have good memories, keep them. If you revisit Kermit it will ruin everything you hold dear.

Hey Bill, what's a "mire"? Ain't it a shame never having learned how to spell?

you are all right, kermit USED to be a great place to live. However it is not now. Kermit looks just horrible, and nothing is done about it. MAYBE if we could change everyone that holds office or seats here something just might happen different for the good, we need to make it to where when voted in, you only hold office for 4years, and give someone else a chance with ideals and the want to, to make a change here, otherwise it will remain the same. As far as the population and the percent of different nationalities here, yes it is about 90% hispanic here, but it should not make a difference, the color of your skin will not make or improve the town, nor will it destroy the town, its the people holding office that make the difference in this town, and knowone in office seems to care about making kermit what it use to be (a nice place to call home)

What has happened in Kermit has and is happing to many towns around our country. The reason is Liberalism as we now see running wild in under the Obamanation of our Nation. The death of the free interprize system and the Change to communism. Things will only get worse in a welfare state. They will lower everyone's standard of living except for those in power over us. We are seeing the death of a nation before our eyes.

Kermit is run down. I was surprised by how many abandoned and run down homes (that kinda look like crack houses) are allowed to reamin standing! Let the fire department practice putting out fires by condeming these homes and letting the fire department do a controlled burn! Once you get rid of all the rubbish, the place will clean up, and maybe people will want to live there again. It is a very nice town. I love it, and I miss it!

When I was a kid I always went to Kermit with my grandma to see her cousins. The town does look alot different. But, I do have to say it seems that people in Kermit mind their own business more than people in Monahans! That is 1 of the things here I hate-everything you do is talked about everywhere. I still go to Kermit every year for family reunions and I rarely here anyone gossiping the way you would hear them in Monahans.
If you want an example just look at the Monahans forum...its awful!

I think that Kermit ran the gossipers out of town a few years back, sound like they ended up in Monahans! See if you can round un up again and run them out of your town, send them futher south. While your at it round up the girls that run after all the married men as well, go ahead and clean house.
