So far against. They have been bad neighbors. Creating a dust bowl even though they know many GV residents have filed complaints with AZDEQ and the county sheriff. They are devaluing surrounding property and creating a health hazard. I old just like to positive and negative comments regarding farming. Without personal attacks that you see on the Rhodes discussion site. Here's hoping that happens.

The biggest problem I see is the lack of concern in the manner of grading the plot. If they were more courteous to the community, perhaps there wouldn't be so much resistance. People in the area are becoming ill from the dirt and dust in the air.

Any suggestions on what to do until Mohave County implements grading regulations for agricultural projects?

My speaking to the farm manager will fall on deaf ears. He would not cooperate with AZDEQ or the Mohave County Sheriffs Department, so he certainly isn't interested in what I have to say.

If they would be just be good neighbors and water the soil before grading, a major part of this problem would be resolved.

The Mohave County Supervisors must create and enforce grading regulations for farm land. Once this is done, I believe the community of Golden Valley will be more accepting of these farms.

You are free to call the hospital any time you wish. Most people would not seek treatment at the hospital for their increased allergy and asthma complaints.

Sue, for your benefit I am reposting the following comments that I made:

"If they would just be good neighbors and water the soil before grading, a major part of this problem would be resolved."

"The Mohave County Supervisors must create and enforce grading regulations for farm land. Once this is done, I believe the community of Golden Valley will be more accepting of these farms."

I will not respond to your posts if you continue to make this a personal attack.

Anyone else out there that has suggestions or comments on how to make these farming projects more community friendly? Anyone wish to speculate on whether they will increase or deflate our property values? Will this farming project employ local residents or import its workers?

GV Resident how do you have a legitimate discussion on the the pros and cons of this project when you throw out lies, blame him for conditions that existed long before he came along and want rules without any thought to its ramifications.
First of you say he devalued the surrounding properties which would be an out right lie. His project(s) throughout Mohave County drove property prices in those areas through the roof. Way too much in my opinion but that's a different issue.
Second, you blame him for all the dust and so-called health issues that you can't substantiate cause they won't go seek medical help for such "serious conditions". Let me ask you, in the last 4 years what dust has he kicked up other than the little farm plot they did In the last 2 months? Yet in the same time 2 other properties if comparable sizes on Aztec and Shinarump completely graded their land without water and no outrage over that?
What about all owners in GV who strip their properties of vegitation? What about all the traffic on dirt roads let alone all the side by sides riding offroad and the numerous dust devils that regularly pass through? Yet all the dust problems according to you are his fault!
Finally you want to regulate grading of farm land! That had to be the most thoughtless comment of all. You want to create a County regulation as if he is the only person farming in the entire county. You obviously ain't got a clue about farming. Please define grading? Does that include plowing and rowing?
Your thoughtless idea will affect every farmer. Take Mohave Valley where they mainly grow alfalfa and cotton. They will have 3 crops during the year. 2 alfalfa crops which will require plowing after harvesting then the field will be plowed and rows installed for the cotton all of which kicks up lots of dirt.
So is your regulation be imposed on the developer or the farmer?
If only on the developer than you haven't really solved anything. But if on the farmer than you will have probably put a lot of small time farmers out of business. Most farmers along the river flood their fields when irrigating which is not conducive to plowing and rowing. So your bright idea will added further burden to an already small profit margin.
But what does that matter when your stilled pissed over yRhodes kicking up a bunch of dirt years ago.
