Hi, my husband and I are moving to Golden Valley and would like to meet some people on line to get to know what kind of people will be around. Anyone who would like to tell us all about Golden Valley and make a new friend let us know. We are a middle aged couple

Hi
I have lived in GV since 1998. It is desert very hot in the summer. It is very rural, but Kingman and Bullhead have any service you might need both are just over a thirty minute drive. You probably already know all this so if you have any questions just post them and I will do my best to answer.

There are many houses in GV that are connected to water. Mohave county water operations and MT tipton water co. We had mt tipton and then we moved and now we are on the county water line. I would buy or rent a house that is on the water line. My water bill has never been over $25. There are companies here that will deliver water or you can haul it yourself, which means you would have to buy a water trailer. People are always selling them and you can usually find one for a decent price. Water usually sells for $5 per 1000 gallons when you hall your own. I do not know the price of having it delivered, but I will find out.

Just be aware, there is a lot of crime in Golden Valley, a lot of calls for burglaries, trespassing, weapon offenses and thefts so be ready to install some good security features in your home, and don't leave anything outside that might be stolen for recycling money.

It's funny that people that are from Kingmen say Golden Valley has a lot of crime, yet people who live in Golden Valley say no. Small women, carries big gun, don't mess with me. lol What's the real scoop on this, could someone let me know. How far is the nearest hospital, I have some health issues. Are there any any doctors at all in Golden Valley. Does anyone else have shetland sheep dogs (shelties) or are dog lover like us. Very interested in history and native americans. Looking for like minded people.

There is a clinic GV, but the hospital is in Kingman about 15miles from the clinic and takes about thirty minutes by car. I don't believe that GV has more or less crime than other areas. I moved here from So California, definitely less crime here. I have no children living with me so I keep a loaded gun handy. I had one break in since moving here while house was under constuction. Clues pointed to the contractor or his employees, but as the detective investigating was his stepson it was never proven. That could happen anywhere. The county government here in my opinion is self serving and corrupt, but I don't no where you could move to get away from that.

I have worked for the Mohave County Sheriff's Office for several years now and one of the many facts about crime in Mohave County is, there is a lot of criminal activity in Golden Valley, for those citizens that live in a world other than the one I live in, go to radio shack and buy yourself a police frequency scanner and experience the mayhem for yourself.

God sounds like its nothing but a crime fest going on all the time and if it is like that why hasn't law enforcment done something about this mayhem.
I mean it must be fairly evident that if all the criminals live there why hasn'y any resident told us that? Just to lure us there lol

Move here, don't move here. If the crime here is as bad as planewreck says and he works for the sheriff department, he is admitting they have failed to control the crime, maybe it is time they abandon the speed traps, and donut shops and do thier jobs. Anyway I think our crime situation is no worse than anywhere else and law enforcement is doing a decent job. Lure you here? who cares where you live?
As I have little interest in where you live this is my last post. Good luck

Mohave County has one of the highest poverty and unemployment rates in the nation. Desperate people do desperate things. The sheriff department seems to do the best they can, it's an enormous county to police. There are lots of conmen and scammers here, they're attracted to retirees like flies on shyte. All in all though, it doesn't seem there is a ton of crime here, most things you read or hear about are drug crimes which is typical practically anywhere in the US. Lots of thefts, don't leave anything out you don't want stolen, but again, that's not uncommon to many other areas of the US.

You'll need to watch for coyotes, they kill a lot of pets in Arizona. Your dogs should love the Valley, just be sure to keep them indoors during the hot summers and give them plenty of water. Make sure they have all their vaccinations, parvo and distemper are common here.

My wife and I are trying to get a feel for the place and people. I understand that there is crime anywhere you go, right now we live in East Tennessee up from Florida, town size is 24000 with the holier than thou's that come with the bible belt good christians on sunday screw everyone rest of the week type of people and we have finally just gotten fed up with the cr#p of this place.
Plain Wreck makes it sound like a combat zone and gvman doesn't seem to have much of a sense of humor. I am glad to see from the Daily Press releases from the Sheriffs Dept that it doesn't sound that bad.
We are just trying to meet people before we get out there so we have some friends to meet when we do get there and get some true info about Golden Valley

Grow up a little, officers are not sitting at the donut shops, there are no speed traps in Mohave County. Golden Valley is a large spread out area and there are just not enough officers to police it all properly and all of us most days are just going from one call to another. I for one would love to see many more officers hired but you wouldn't be too happy with your property tax when it increased a couple hundred bucks. Oh, and no law enforcement agency can control the crime, that's why bigger and better jails are built, now why don't you go and have a donut.

Why Golden Valley in particular?
I've been checking out Arizona online myself, it seems to have a lot to offer, I think the only way to be sure would be to rent and visit a lot of places.

Beware- Mohave County has a DOG LIMIT. You may be over the limit with 6 dogs. The people who run the county seem to disline pet lovers. They are trying to run all the animal rescuers out of town as well. Dont move there until you are sure you can have 6 dogs- i think the limit is 5.

Mystic Mage, it sounds like your not moving to golden valley, i suspect your just running this string to get people talking crap. your follow up post deosnt seem to ask questions, imo, of somone moving to GV.
So now i ask you. Why would you want to move to GV? where are you moving from? what type of work do you do?
On another note, i noticed you didnt mention dogs until sheltie man posted, then you even "oh so innocently" mentioned that you have shelties. I'm wondering what your all about.

Listen, Mystic Mage is my wife. So we both are asking questions one of us will think of at the time. And yes we are moving to Golden Valley. We are moving from East Tennessee to AZ for my wifes health, We are both disabled and we do love the desert. As for starting this string is for us to find out more about the area and maybe get to know a few people before we get there so that when we to get to GV we do know a few people there instead of being complete strangers there
