I was in golf ball area 66. Old lady there not very pleasant or helpful. Prices seem high. Not a good selection of products. We go to Honolulu club for our beer now. Bill and his wife at Desert garden are such nice friendly people. I asked why they don't sell beer. Apparently someone complained so their liquor license is on hold. For god sake I have no idea why someone would complain about these nice people. We need good friendly, helpful and competitive people. I hear the feed store next to the garden center should be selling propane next week

I am thankful that the golf ball store is still in yucca since PJs went out of business. The selection is as good as could be expected and the prices are not high at all! Same price or close on anything you get in kingman. I dont have to go to kingman to get milk bread eggs cigarettes and beer. Honolulu club is more expensive what are you talking about? The golf ball store has been here for the locals before PJs and still here. SOunds like typical small town gossip to me.

I went to golf ball for eggs one day. She had 6 dozen eggs. Most were broken or cracked. I couldn't make a full dozen. She wasn't happy when I didn't buy any. lol

Dont listen to Doug and Shelly from Canada. They dont like the woman who owns Area 66 because their friend Rodger, who is well known for being a golddigger and crazy, flipped out on the owner because she wouldn't go out on a date with him. She then kicked him off her property. Poor woman has crazy guys after her all the time. He then started spreading lies about her. Its always personal people. And yes, I saw some eggs cracked one day and they gave them to me for free!

Are you talking about Rodger who lives out on Mesquite or are mixing him up with her ex-boyfriend who she booted out and later had arrested for stalking?

I like Anna she has always been friendly. The older lady on the other hand can be a bit intimadating, as to the Rodger, we came down to visit and BBQ for his wedding. Sorry if we made some hard feelings but why would "someone" protest a liquor licence for a business in their area? PJs had one "no protest" but they are gone...Honolulu Club is well established and Nancy has, I believe, the oldest licence in the area and runs a great business. Desert Gardens "local people" and the Feed store are trying to bring more business into the area, so why protest their right to a licence...Why not help to build the area instead of holding it back? We love this area and have made many great friends, the politics in small towns are well known. I wish the gas station and store would reopen, would that liquor licence be protested as well? No we don't live full time..Would we if we could..YES..Do we pay taxes? Yes... I think we have a right to voice our opinions, just like all of you.

Maybe you should just come out and say who is opposing the license instead of saying "someone" and then referring to the Area 66 store. I am getting the inference that you are accusing them. Are you?
Also being part-timers to the area it would behoove you not to react to things you hear from a group of friends who might have personal issues with other and tend to spread gossip. Nothing wrong with opinion when it is based from fact but can become poison when it is derived from gossip.
I personally haven't heard any of this stuff and I live here full time, but then again I have little time on my hands for the idle chit-chat.
As far as that "intimidating" lady who took on that job to keep money coming in because they shutdown their trash business and haven't been able to move forward with turning the old yellow motel building into a business plaza, maybe you should take the time (since you seem to have a lot of it spare) to get to know her before making comments about her. She might not be a very outgoing person but is a very nice person who doesn't hesitate to do what it takes to keep working to pay the bills without taking from others and I mean from even her own son who is the former world champion mix martial artist Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell.
Personally this area can do with a lot more of her and less of people sitting around with too much time on their hands spreading gossip!
Not saying that is you, but it is something you can easily fall into like many other part timers who come down with a lot of free time to hang out drinking with their local friends who might have personal issues with others and spread bad information to people who are ignorant to what is going on.
On the license, I might be the one that is ignorant but I know that "old lady" very well and know her in a totally different light then your perception.

I am IN NO way speaking of the Lady from Fisher Trash. I am speaking about
Patricia who lives in a house within a mile of the Garden center and put in the
only objection to their licence. The people at Desert Garden Center were
collecting names and signatures of people in the area in order to try to have
the objection reversed. I hope it happens for them. My apologies for not making
clear, the person I was mentioning. I thought it would be obvious.

You mean you weren't referring to her when you said you found the old lady at the store a bit intimidating? whenever I go in there it has been either her or a guy working.
In regards to the license, you never made any reference to anyone living near the Center opposing the license in your post only about the other locations that are or were selling alcohol. I personally was getting the impression that the lady who owns the store was who you were talking about.
Thanks for clarifying. Not all of us are aware of this issue so it's not obvious to us. I have never been in the center because he has always closed by 3pm and when I worked in Kingman I use to always give the feed store my business but now that my work is along the river I never go that direction anymore so I don't personally know what is going on over there unless someone is talking about it at either the water board or friends for Yucca meetings I attend and they haven't mentioned anything.
Actually it is kind of hard to believe that one persons' objection could stop the process. If that was the case your fellow Canadian, Ruby and local Don Guthrie would have stopped us from putting on our Veterans' Parade, building the new Fire Station, the memorial in front of the fire station, puting the towns name on the water tank, having public potlucks at the fire station (oh wait Don almost did win that one, fortunately we signed up the public as members of the fire auxiliary), and putting a stop to using the fire station as a meeting place. There are plenty of other attempts by them that i haven't mentioned but I think you get my drift. There are a few malcontents around here that hate change or have power trips about trying to control what happens in this community and the county deals with that in every community so that is I find it hard to believe that this Patricia can put a stop to it all by herself.

The people at area 66 are horrible. They are very high priced and they talk about everyone in town and then some. They start trouble for anyone who wants to start a bussiness. Not nice people. Not to mention anything they sell is out of date. BEWARE.
The people down at old trails are very nice friendly and helpful. We go there when we don't want to go to Kingman. They sell lottery among other things. But when we buy lottery there we win. Just won $2,000.00 on the pick. They are good luck.

It appears that I have to defend myself yet again in response to a malcontent that takes pleasure hiding behind internet anonymity to post lies about my store. First of all, my prices are comparable to Kingman and Havasu, Some products are even cheaper. People don't seem to realize how much it costs to have things delivered, nor do they realize that I can't sell things at Wal-Mart prices. I work hard to get things at reasonable prices and to keep that store going. I'm not making money hand over fist as some would believe. I provide a service and am thanked many times for doing so. This "Yucca Resident" states that we talk about everyone in town. Hardly. It seems that people like this "resident" do the talking. I have neither the time nor the desire to talk about anyone. I try to run my store with a modicum of professionalism. Maybe that's why I have had loyal customers for over 5 years? And stayed in business for this long? And how have we started trouble for anyone wanting to start a business? How is that even possible? I want Yucca to grow. Or are you referring to the liquor license issue? Well, a representative from the AZ Dept. of Liquor License and Control urged my mother to protest the license. That has nothing to do with starting trouble for "anyone who wants to start a business." The State and County are the obstacles in that respect.
Regarding selling products out of date, this is an absolute lie. I pull items off the shelf when they are out of date and get credit for most of them from my distributor. There is no incentive for me to sell out of date items. Those items that I don't get credit for, I give away. When the hot food I sell hits the 4-hour mark, I throw it away or give it away. I have many customers, some of whom work for Bill Adas (who owns Desert Garden), who can tell you the truth about my store. Regarding lottery, I've had a $10,000 winner and multiple $500 winners with scratchers. It seems to me that this "Yucca Resident" simply has an ax to grind.

Kainen, the "Golf Ball" itself is not a store. There is a store on the property. They are open 8am-8pm Monday through Friday, Saturday 10am-6pm, and Sunday 9:30am-6pm.

If you live in Yucca, it costs money to get to Kingman and back so I spent a lot at Area 66. They've always been friendly and helpful.
