Funny how they never even suggest the possibility of a natural cause (ever heard of SIDS???) and just assume he's a criminal with no background knowledge of him.

Anyone wonder where the grandmother was?? It says right in the story that she WOKE UP at their apartment to the sound of her son crying at the discovery of the baby's death. Sounds like she was there long before the father, why isn't she being held in jail, too?

It does seem like there is more to the story. I do wonder when the Grandmother arrived at the apartment or whether the father thought he left his son in the Grandmother's care.

The details are very sketchy.

Evening folks, there is definitely more to the story. In Colorado, 1st Degree Murder is also known as premeditated murder. It is the conscious planning of a murder which results in death. It also includes felony murder, as in murder committed during the commission of a felony such as armed robbery for example, or killing a police officer while in the performance of their duties. This sounds a lot more like child abuse resulting in death or something like that, unless, there are more details not yet released.

Yeah man, as a bar patron and father, I know I don't go out when the kids are alone, Common sense it seems. I don't know the details here, but either the father was extremely negligent, or incredibly stupid, or it was an honest mistake if he thought the child was taken care of by the grandmother.(My grandmother took care of me all the time, LOVE YOU!)

You are right if the Grandmother woke to find the child dead it must have died while she was there, right? They make is sound like the baby died because it was alone but if you read the story it either died with the Grandmother there or the Grandmother came over found the dead baby and went to sleep. What do you think is more likely?

Do us a favor and castrate this guy so he can't have any more kids? He should share a cell with "Dick Heene" and they can swap child rearing tips with each other. What a moron.

A Reader - Thanks for the link to 9News. Okay, so the baby's grandmother came home, saw the baby was not in it's crib and assumed he/she was with the father. But the father was at the bar boozin' it up. So where was the baby when grandma came home?

I was in the military with this guy being charged. He was kicked out of the military for discipline problems and for his alcohol problem. He did not have full custody of his son. The son was there for a visit. The neighbor is lying. He had a major drinking problem. I am disgusted by this and glad to see the day he is found guilty. Say a prayer for the mother of the infant please.

Leave it to fu***ng Jefferson County to say "1st degree murder" give me a fu***ng break! Maybe child abuse or neglect but 1st degree murder? This County lives for fu***ng people's lives as much as possible. I pray for all member's of the Family involved, that you one day find peace w/in your hearts, this is horrible.

I agree there has to more to this story. I just heard a story about a 15 day old baby in Haiti that was burried in earth quake rubble for 5 days. No food, no water, and sucking dust.

This baby was pulled out alive and is doing well.

This guy should have NEVER left his child but there is more to the story.

Funny how people like you jump to conclusions and stick up for the father. The Grandma was not home and the idiot father went on a drinking binge. The Grandma said she was at work and came home to a crying father.
