An "innocent" campfire doesn't blow up on it own...someone put something in the fire. The only innocent are the unsupervised kids that got hurt.
Along with others who responded to this post...I know these people and have heard the story. They ARE in fact wonderful people with wonderful kids, who are devastated and sick over what happened Friday night! This was in no way "unsupervised". A parent was there. Do not be so quick to pass judgement on others when you do not know the facts and were not there. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Family and friends were around a campfire, and yes, there has to be a reason why the explosion occured. Something WAS in that firepit, but it was not put there intenionally.
Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Thoughts and prayers are with this family and those injured. They do not deserve these comments and judgements being made.
