Do you all remember years and years ago, the tainted acid that came into the United States that killed a bunch of people? Everyone knows it comes in from all over acrossed our borders and through tunnels underground that they've been finding, and many other countries have it out for us because of our crooked politicians anyway. There's drug problems everywhere. I live in Bucyrus and there's a meth and heroin problem right here in this small area. Plus, alot of people are using due to depression because of financial reasons and they know they're not making their payments and are about to lose everything. This all contributes to more and more useage and crime. North Robinson is a small area between Bucyrus and Crestline, and they had a massive raid last month. It's everywhere and it's getting worse as time goes along. Lets thank our crooked democrat government, 6 months into this bull and false promises abroad. I want to live in Canada.

I have lived in athens county for the greater part of my life. I have seen so many lives taken by the drugs in this county. For many years everyone has know of the drug proplem here. So my question is why has it taken the sheriffs office so long to see that, and yes its getting worse!!

obama will stop immigration by spending zillions of dollars thus causing inflation to be so bad that no one will even want to come to usa.....he will then encourage drug useage even more so as to eliminate lots of welfare and poor people that the country can ill afford to have around.....athens needs to get used to drugs and hope they kill even more mostly useless people........and if u r a productive member of society obama will make ur taxes so hi that canada will look great in spite of their socialized medicine......

Please hurry and move to Canada. Anyone ignorant enough to blame our country's problems on one political party won't be missed.

I am a nice person but I will call anyone an idiot who blames our drug problem on the politicians.

The war on drugs has failed. We need to start treating it for what it is, a public health issue, not a criminal issue. Locking a drug user up in jail with other drug users is not fixing the problem. Just look around.

Im sorry but these people know what drugs does them and yet they choose to do them, so why start doing them. Its insane to me...heroin is a drug from circleville ohio, to chillicothe ohio and now athens...guess these people aren't so smart and I don't feel sorry for them.. They are adults and have some kind of mind to know whats wrong and right. I pity them not sorry for them.

Logan - is it a public health issue when the junkies break into houses robbing and stealing to support their pathetic habit. Or when they go into banks or businesses and rob them? Or when they are so high they blast through intersections and kill innocent drivers? Or when they apparently stab themselves to death? Shows your ignorance.

its a disease.. being a junkie is a disease.. Heroin is a plague.. It needs to stop somehwere.. Its killing us off.. its a choice to do it.. People try to stay clean, but it doesnt matter to some people they will try to get you high... people need to realize the lifestyle aint worth it,,you end up losing everything..its stops being fun after awhile and the whole point of it after that is not to be sick.. I just wish people would see the bigger picture.. I know addiction is a disease but there is help out there if you want to stay clean..\

thanks

Hell yeah there is a drug problem in this area. Look at the condition of the majority of the outlying houses and neighborhoods. There is no way that the money these people are making is going toward anything that they actually need

Drugs are a major issue in our country and have been. I agree with the folks that said it was a life choice and people are being stupid even trying it once. It's called being weak minded....following "peer pressure" to take something is stupid, besides the fact, why in the hell are you hanging out with people like that in the first place? Hello!

Another thing that burns me, is that even with our failing economy, and all the issues at home, we are still pledging and giving financial support to other countries. We have real problems here, and we are spending tax payers money overseas? Why? It's time we stopped spending the billions and billions of dollars we are spending overseas and start concentrating on our issues at home. Close our borders, spend the money on more border patrol, INS, I.C.E, and other organizations, kick people out of our country who aren't legal citizens ( afterall, how many of them contributed to our drug problem by smuggling in drugs from all over), and start executing people who can't stay clean. It's obvious they have a deathwish anyways, why leave them on the street to get desparate, so they can break into the home of an innocent family and kill them so they can take their belongings or money to continue their habit. It's all a downward spiral. Their addiction is a virus killing America, and the only way to stop it is to get serious about dealing with it.

You start executing people who are involved,(no plea bargaining, no plea deals, and no appeals) and you will see it come to a screeching halt. Unfortunately, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelete. I know all the tree huggers out there don't understand that theory. That is why there are stronger willed people, required to carry out the work it takes to provide you with a safe environment, so that you can live a safe happy life criticizing people like us.

Jack Nicholson said it best in a "A FEW GOOD MEN":

Son, we live in a world that has walls and those walls need to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use then as the backbone of a life trying to defend something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you," and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a weapon and stand a post.

It's getting worse everywhere! Dont feed into the stereotype hype. I grew up there too, have been all over the world and only being naive would make you think it's BAD in Athens county...

For someone that isnt going to debate, you sure say alot...I point to Amsterdam where the legalization of Marijuana has reduced harder drug use and violent crime.
Your argument just doesn't stand up to the facts.
Outlaw alcohol and I'll stand right there with you though, since it is obviously a gateway drug and far more folks die from deaths related to it than all other drugs combined.

The whole world has a drug problem. Get more treatment programs up an running instead of putting addicts in jails where they don't belong and take the PROFITS out of illegal drug trade and there will be no drug problems.
Sheriffs and Police keep fighting an unwinnable war and they won't openly say that.
