We agree.
However, with the election of a democrat, the trend to further restrict welfare eligibility will be reversed. As you know, this state is staunchly democratic.
I have vehemently disagreed with your previous insistence that the motivation for these young women to become pregnant was to receive benefits. The problem is obviously much more complex and multi-faceted.
Sorry you were confused. Welfare is the difference between flying on the trapeze with or without a net. Without the net, you tend to be much ... much more careful.

This is so sad. Those girls are in for a big surprise; babies aren't toys you can put away when you're tired of playing with them. I didn't see Juno...a movie about a pregnant teen didn't appeal to me, lol.

Those men who raped those children should be put away in jail for a long time...and raped multiple times while in there. F*ing sick bastards.

if these girls were smart they would come forward with the whole story and get a movie deal to finance their futures and their children's futures.

but seriously...
To be honest, the real problem is that successful female role models are hard to come by. Our country just vehemently denounce Clinton's attempt at running for presidency. She was not necessarily the best candidate, but her campaign brought up pretty ugly comments against successful professional women in powerful positions. In this country its much easier to grow up and be a mom than it is to be a professional woman. This story needs to go down the path of gender norms in our country and rather than birth control and abortion debates.

A generation ago "unwed" moms were sent AWAY until the baby was born, were usually forced to give up the child, and then came back to whispers and shame. "Bastard" was the cruel distinction.
Britney Spears has done alot to help undress girls for public viewing. Same with the Girls Gone Wild perv.
Pregnant bellies are now considered beautiful and are often exposed when they were once hidden. It's a good thing.
I'd rather contribute to the welfare of American citizens and their babies than to the illegal immigrants that are abusing and clogging up our health system...and I don't condone the choices made by these 17 girls.
It's the Britney Spears has done a lot to help undress girls for public viewing. You are kidding, I hope. Before that, it was Madonna, and before that, Marilyn Monroe. I just deep getting this mental picture of Britney herself undressing these girls. May be a good idea for her next vid.

Guess that didn't sound right. When kids dressed like kids they didn't look like 6 year old ummmm sluts. You're right....there were plenty more before Britney

Except that neither Marilyn Monroe or Madonna became popular or well known until they were in their twenties.
They WERE adults, and I don't believe either was ever a pregnant teen.

I am 19 years old and pregnant and I don't know what to tell you people. Trying to get pregnant on purpose because you think a baby is cute is stupid. However, you guys shouldn't blame all teen parents because I'm considered one myself. I find a lot of people looking down on people who are unmarried or are young and pregnant. Who are you to judge us? For one your surely not god and Im sure your life is not perfect. There is no greater sin. A person who kills and one who lies are equal in gods eyes. Also I didn't get pregnant from having unprotected sex. People could get rapped sexually abused or the protection they were using could break. The only safe way to avoid pregnancy is to be abstient. So don't be hyprocrites people. If your having sex don't judge people who are doing the same thing. Whether you use protection or not, condoms/birth control are not 100% effective and you are still at risk of being pregnant. Is pregnancy not a blessing? So many people can't have kids so don't try to steal someones blessing and talk crap about someone to make yourself feel better. No ones perfect. Getting pregnant on purpose is not cool but don't judge people instead look at your own lives.

I didn't read all the posts, so I can only respond to my post. As I said in my post, I don't blame you, you are a kid. Kids do dumb things. If all these other people are bashing you and your situation, or even these dumb girls for that matter, they are putting the blame on the wrong people. The parents are to blame when things like this happen.

It makes me sick to watch parents these days act like they are their kids best friends--you are not their friend, YOU ARE THEIR PARENT. That doesn't mean you have to be a bully though. Treat your children with respect, but at the end of the day, it is your responsibility to be the law and the voice of reason in their lives. Be accountable!

Best of luck to you in your situation Diane. I hope everything works out for the best for you.

Best thing to do now is help them build a future.
Encourage them to stay in school and work part time
and if they need to live with a mentoring family,
that's not the worst choice.

This is an excellent time to reorganise how you do your daily tasks and to send off your resume, or go for a job interview.
