This is very disturbing. How do you control a gang of 600 to 800 members?? Can we put them in prisons after they commit crimes ?
Do we even have enough prisons ??

Stfu you piece of sh!t eric Walker you nignog the solution to ending gangs is to simply kill em off, and thats really easy if you take em out 1 by 1 since they cant always be together all the time.

As a middle school teacher who works in Lawrence but came after teaching for five years in the Bronx, the gang problem here is small. A bunch of kids calling themselves the (fill in the street) street gang. When I was growing up in Lawrence, in the 80's, there were the Bailey St. gang, Black Demons, Latin Gestapo, and a few other smaller gangs. Most kids called themselves a gang if they hung out together and decided to have each other's back. But after the Latin King takedown, we need to look at this problem. Larger gangs want Lawrence, it is the doorway to controlling the dissemination of drugs to New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont due to its vicinity to I-93, 495, 95, and 87. Lawrence is not the Bronx, and does not run like it, but there are many that wouldn't mind if it did, waiting to take over. We have to be proactive and not allow a hold on this wonderfully diverse city by a bunch of hoodlums that are not wanted. Lawrence parents and residents do not want gangs here and many will do what they can and help police to make sure it doesn't happen. But Lawrence is too powerful of a draw for these gangs, and if unchecked, will end up here, controlling and causing the havoc the Latin Kings did in the '90's. We feel safe, but the city streets are getting restless, a lot of hopelessness among our youth who feel the American dream cannot happen to them no matter how hard they work. (80 percent of Lawrence residents come from another country) Imagine when they here how much hate people have for immigrants, legal and illegal, how it attacks that hope. By the time our students reach high school, many have no hope left. And the promise of a lot of quick money and protection is a big draw. The key to this problem is working with the youth (Boys and Girls club does a fantastic job) and keeping their hope alive. Also, police in gang expertise working with the youth, especially as they enter high school. Lawrence has improved, crime is down, test scores are up, and the drop out rate is decreasing, let's roll on this progress and keep plugging away. I can't wait for the day all my students feel hope as the enter high school and realize they too can accomplish the american dream.

There are many programs that are being funded so we can help our youth from Violence and to give them choices that they didn't have before. When young kids don't have any choices or parents the will lead them to make the right choice and support them in there time of needs kids will turn to the street and in the street they will think they are a family. A family that we provide shelter, attention, money and protection. What they don't realize is that all that family comes with a price. That price is either to sell drugs hurt others or become the drug user. Sociality is so quick to judge and get rid of the problem, but they don't take the time to come up with a solution that will help and empower the youth to really think for themself and look forward in the future with out crime and drugs. It does not matter where the gang actitives are weather in lawence or intercities, they are everyone. We need to stop being judgemently and come up with a solution, because this gangs could be your own children.

Gangs will never be controlled. There is always someone that their families are close with, that creates, maintains, and establishes a known presence and streets. The street becomes their families. Therefore when someone has a problem its only logical your family will help you. Death is nothing when someone is trying to kill you. Or you kill them, or they kill you. It's something you have to be in the streets to understand. I think, the police should put as much cameras up in every city as possible. The more proof there is the better its controlled. In NY its like that, why can't they do it here? or anywhere esle? They'll rather buy 3 years worth of paper toilet then invest on something thats logical. They'll only worry about it when one of their kids get killed.(The cops, politicians, or that dad/mom that doesn't care about nothing)

This is a lawrence native that now resides in NY. Believe me, once there is proof, dudes in gangs call down. They dont want to go to jail.

Daily Horoscope for December 15

Pisces

This is a great day for understanding what's going on under the surface of things and for tuning into the subtle messages that others are sending out. For instance, someone may say one thing yet you'll be utterly convinced that they really mean something quite different. However, they won't like it if you say so, so you'll have to maintain a tactful and discreet silence.
