honestly nobody knows who as at fault at this time. We can all stop blaming the 16-yr old because who knows maybe it was the womans fault? And assuming he passed? there would have been other vehciles involved in that case. theres also no proof that he was on his cell phone. I was at the scene of the accident before all the emergency vehicles were there. I think we all need to stop these rumors and assumptions and think before we speak.

I am thinking of him and his family and i think no family should ever have to go through this. Yet if what I hear is true and he was texting when this happened. i hear is true. Then we need to take a long and hard look at the texting and driving issue. I hope the school in the area use this situation to show why texting and driving is not a good combo.
Its not a fact that he was texting it is just a big rumor. I don't like how when people hear about a 16 year old in a crash they instantly think the person was texting.

First of all I never said he was FOR SURE texting!! I said if what is being said WAS true that schools should. Second of all I never said to just talk to 16 years old. I said schools in general. So please do not read more in to what I wrote. Thank you.
We are laying Mrs. Miller to rest tommarow so, please keep them in your prayer tommarow.

Funny how it was said that the 77 year old should not have been driving and it was said my those close to her, and it was seen that she was in the 16 YEAR OLD'S lane... Sorry that elderly people are much more dangerous than any younger driver... unbelievable. Give the kid a break

why would you blame the accident on the 16 year old. no one knows what happend and i don't think it's fair for you to point fingers. why can't people be more considerate. just keep him in your prayers and stop worrying about whos fault it was.

The wonderful lady was a family member of mine, my family lost a truly wonderful, caring woman and to read this comment section saddens me. Just because she was 77 years old does not mean she did not have more living to do. She did daycare for 37 years and was grandma to all those children as well as her own. She welcomed anyone into her home and you could always be sure to have some kind of goodie waiting for you when you did visit her. Please stop all the bickering about the accident and pray for both families in our time of great sadness.

Margaret was a wonderful wonderful woman! She cared and loved for children more than anyone I know. It is truly sad that she will not have life anymore.

I agree that this is not a time for bickering, but it is certainly a time to reflect on driving and texting. And, it is certainly a time to reflect on our own driving skills, and how we need to keep attention to the road when others do not.

Yes, we all hope that the young 16 year old man driving a PORSCHE in rural Minnesota recovers from this tragic accident. But, this young man will never be the same. He will ultimatley have to live with what he has done. He will also need to make peace with the Lord when his time does come.

For Margaret, her time came and went in a flash. And, may God's blessings be with her family during this time.

Just so you know, he was not texting your heard rumors are completely wrong! Yes, I do know for a fact because this is family! You have no idea what happened and for you to say that this young man has to live with what HE has done is totally wrong of you to say. No one knows what happened!!!! Get it straight already and grow up. It is not your place to say what will happen or how he will make his peace with God. Maybe God thought that thos young man had a full life ahead of him, maybe there was a reason for the elderly lady to be taken to heaven? See, that doesnt sound so nice does it? Well, that is pretty much what you have said! see I have no right to say anything and neither do you! Enough is enough already, lets us deal with our side of it now and move on. God is the only one who can decide anything so please it is not your place. Our family has a lot to deal with we do not need people on top of it assuming they know what happened. Please just stop.

Before I respond, I have to say that everyone above could certainly use better grammer, punctuation, and English skills in their writing.

Evidence will "most likely" show that the young man was "texting" during driving. Even if you are family, you were NOT in the car. And what you hear is one side, and what others hear is another. I am most certain that there will ultimately be witnesses to the accident that have not yet been identified either. All in all, evidence will be collected and it may take months to hear the final verdict. And, no matter who you are, and sometimes it does matter who you are in a rural area accident....it was a great tragedy for all concerned.

As you may know, Minnesota is one of the 13 states that has banned texting in a car. Although not quite a law yet, Minnesota is one of the states included in this ban.

As of January 1, 2006 it is illegal for teen drivers to use cell phones and drive. The fine can cost up to $100, plus court costs. The The Minnesota State Statute, chapters 171.05 and 171.055 states: Cell Phone Use. Provisional license holders and instruction permit holders who are under age 18 will be restricted from using a cell phone as drivers while the vehicle is in motion on and after January 1, 2006. Convictions for violating the cell phone statutes will be considered moving violations on a person's driving record.
No one under 18 should even have use of a cell phone while in the vehicle.$100 seems quite minimal a fine - but that is what it is at this time.

Again, all motorists should make efforts to curb cell phone use and other driving distractions.

Whatever the outcome - now is the time for schools and parents to have cell phone and "text talk".

Remind your teen they canít control what happens once a message is sent, so they make good choices about what photos and content to include in text messages. By monitoring their use of technology, you can agree on a number of texts they can send per week and when and where texting can be done. Keep cell phones out of the bedroom and left in a central location at night, and make rules about when they canít text such as while driving, at mealtimes or at school.
There are pluses to text messaging. It can bring an introverted child out of their shell, boost their confidence and help them connect with friends.

That's all I have to say.

The young driver was a good, I spent some time with him during his brothers wedding which we were both in and I have known him since he was young, I hope that people can refrain from blaiming him or the other driver at this time when alot is unknown. If he is found liable for the accident I would like to think that the pain he is suffering through now is enough punishment. this something he will have to live with the rest of his life So don't add to his pain no one is perfect THIS WAS AN ACCIDENT so treat it like such

In a statement issued by Margarets family days following the accident they stated that they are praying for the young mans family and harbor NO ill feelings. This being said I would ask that ANYBODY involved in this debate or reading this site FOLLOW this example.. for God sakes if the Family can be this open hearted and offer prayer... There REally need not be people who are passing blame and throwing stones.. it's redicilous. Let the statement the family made be a testimony to the type of Woman Margeret Miller was ... she has raised a Faith Filled family to be Loving..caring.. and most of all forgiving. Maybe we can ALL learn from her example. Let the police do their job.. and when the truth comes out let the one who needs to be forgiven actually be forgiven and what Life lessons can be taught.... let them come out and be taught. Rather than wasting time & words on throwing stones Maybe? fold your hands and PRay... for the 2 families invloved... for the young man suffering.. and for Margaret who lost her life in this tragic accident. Pray and be open hearted and when the time comes forgiving. Margarets family stated she didnt like to be in the lime light.. now ironically she is so in her Good and LOving name let this light Shine and bring a purpose ..... Lessons learned and hearts that forgive as is Gods word & way. This is the way Margaret lived by.

All of you are arguing about the wrong damn thing. Look at the bigger picture, as the family seems to have. The accident wasn't caused because some kid had too little experience driving, or because someone was distracted. It happened because we have a dangerous, inefficient, and quite outdated transportation system. This woman died and this kid was injured because we all still use this crap system without saying a word. They were simply causalities on the road where people die everyday. The really sad part is that the technology exists to have things like this never happen again...but most of us won't see it for a long long time. After all, if you get all the safety features in your new car, what are they going to sell you next year?

Isn't there a single event that you bat-shit crazy theists can't relate to god? Read a damn book to find out why things happen, instead of folding your hands and talking to your invisible friends. You're not helping anyone except yourself by making yourself think that you're doing any good at all.

You may want to consider prayer yourself and it may cleanse your filthy mouth. I feel bad for such an empty mind..heart. God be with you also.
