What is going on in Glenwood IL? Why the heck is the old Glenwood Bowling alley still standing? From what is understand the building has severe mold damage and burglars have clean out its guts. The side of the building is starting crumble. The building is such a horrible eye sore and it just breeds crime. This new administration promised big things withing the village. We have a new village administrator, he makes a good sum of money. Myself and the village as a whole want to know why the hell the Glenwood Bowling alley is still standing. It is a constant reminder of Glenwood's failing economy and makes the town look like a empty hopeless town. Is it going to take the building crumbling onto a child to make you see it needs to come down? It very well might. The North East side of the building is starting to bow out.
Lets move on to the Glenwood theater. There is "GD FOLKS" graffitti in the rear over grown alley, movie signs from over a year ago pasted up on the wall and front of the buidling. The building's integrity is also failing. Again this building, wich was a successful prosperous building at one point, is a reminder of what this NEW administration has brought to us in Glenwood. Anyone can see into the building and is looks despicable.
Mayor Durkin, Trustee Barry, Trustee Plott, and the others WHY DO YOU ALLOW GLENWOOD'S PAST FAILURS TO STAND AND BRING THE TOWN DOWN EVEN MORE THAN IT IS? WHY DO YOU CONSTANLY MAKE UP REASONS FOR THESE BUILDINGS TO REMIAN. Knock them down and start new. Use Weiderhold the new administrator and BRING Businesses TO GLENWOOD. The concept is simple.
I was nice not to meantion EITHER of Glenwood's failing Plazas.
We the citizens demand a response to this.

If you were born and raised in the south burbs you would know the area has been relatively depressed since the 1970s. While Glennwood was a very nice place to raise a family the crime was relatively low back then. Times have changed, crime is up, jobs have dried up, money to pay for the things you demand just isn't there. Take a look outside of Glennwood for a moment, the failures of the current administration will purpose funding to all aspects of healthcare and no way to pay for it. Oh wait, you and I will pay for it and when you get your paycheck (those of us who are lucky to be working) at the end of the week, be prepared to see half of your check go to Obama and his brown shirts. Thanks Obama for raising our taxes.

The north east corner of the bowling alley has started to drop bricks from about 20ft high into the alley. This is not good. What if it hits somone or somone's car as they drive past.

I remember when i lived in glenwood, had Dairy Queen and all the stores there. I came back in 2008 to visit and was sad to see half the stores gone. I hope Gabe's doesn't shut down anytime soon.

Have you heard? The Village and it's Administrator Eric Wiederhold have parted ways. He is getting six months severance pay (about $65,000) and the Village has agreed to pay the remainder of his lease. Let's not forget that he was making over $100,000 a year, got several hundred dollars a month in vehicle maintenance fees (he lived next door to Village Hall) and they paid his tuition. The Village also spent over $20,000 to a headhunting company to find him. The Village is so broke that the cops are still currently taking unpaid says off and gave up other benefits in order to prevent the lay off of five officers. The citizens are paying higher water rates and vehicle sticker fees. How does this make any sense? This is 4th Village Administrator in five years that has made six figures and the town has literally fallen apart. Whoever elected these jokers should be ashamed of themselves!!

The Village Administrator is almost always the most highly paid position at any town. In my opinion, they are almost always the most IMPORTANT position also. He is usually the highest-ranking full-time employee, the one who does (or should be) putting in the most hours, the most visible person representing your village to potential developers and to county/state officials... They deserve to be the highest-paid person (can't comment on exactly WHAT the salary should be), but on the other hand they must DESERVE to make that much money. It isn't at all unusual for an Administrator to make 6 figures or close to it. There's tons of competition and villages hiring VAs away from other villages.. So they do keep the salaries high for the guys they want to retain. Don't know anything about Glenwood's VA to know whether he merited his salary...

Come on. Taxes, village stickers, water rates have all gone up. Department services have been cut. Police, fire and public works are all being downsized. the police officers took huge pay cuts to keep enough officers for them to be safe. No new businesses have come in and so many have left. Tell one positive thing that the leadership of Glenwood has accomplished in the past three years. We are paying more and more and getting less and less. Wiederhold did absolutely nothing but rape this Village and now he is getting six month's severance pay. Way to elect some efficient officials.

Village Admins are not elected ... Glenwood is lucky if your police officers agreed to a pay decrease in order to keep the numbers. My village police's union insisted on pay raises, wouldn't give in, so they're not going to fill a police spot that was opened up when a guy moved out of state, and they're threatening to cut another spot if financial problems continue. The union would rather the existing guys get raises than provide spots for new guys or make sure the numbers are retained.

Wiederhold was appointed by the elected officials who spent 25,000 to find him. He is the fourth Village Admin in five years that has collected six figures and done nothing. The last Admin that brought any business to Glenwood was Christofonelli. Although many did not like him, he brought Walmart, Aldi, Auto Zone, Chase Bank, and a few others. Like him or not, he brought business that generates money
