I was there tonight on the haunted tour & I really enjoyed it. I think it is great that they are having things like this that will help the area in bringing in much needed revenue, instead of letting the place rot. As far as these people complaining about making money off of the mentally ill & it being a freak show, you need to get a life. They are bringing awareness of just how bad these people were mistreated back in those days. If we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it.

The owners are out for nothing but themselves, very money hungry! Oh, and any "evidence" you catch there.. you probably should just forget about.. the whole hospital is rigged with speakers and a stereo system... ask the guides about their stories, most of them are fake and they make up whatever they want you to hear. They read the group and know what type of experience is there, then make stuff up as they go!
They aren't getting any of my hard earned $$.. frauds!

If you have any sense DO NOT SUPPORT THE TRANS ALLEGHENY LUNATIC ASYLUM! The owners are TeaPublicans that want the middle class and poor to pay their taxes for them even though they are already at record lows. The money the tours bring in is negligible to the harm the owners are doing to the area by staging Tea Party rallies and having events that make Lewis County look like an ignorant redneck haven.

They are also making up all kinds of ridiculous bullsh*t stories about that hospital which makes the owners not only look like money grubbing carnival barkers, but they are also making the locals look like ignorant redneck liars that make up crap to get attention.

I know to many putting down a place that shows up on "ghost-hunter" shows seems counterproductive to attracting income to Weston but one decently named and well-thought out festival could bring more revenue than a place owned by right-wing nutjob snake oil salesmen.

Also, business is attracted to infrastructure and an educated base. You could do more for Weston economically by following the governor's plea to hire college grads and keep them here rather than hiring your uneducated nephews or drinking buds for every other job.

That is not scary! I have lived here my whole life and been in there when it still had patients before try built the new sharpe hospital on the hill.... Of course I was a small kid when that happen, my name is carved into one of the door frames... The people that own that place are selfish and need to brush up on the REAL history of that place! People are so stupid if they actually believe some of those stories! Of course you're goin to see shit in that place... Your mind will play tricks in you and it will let u see exactly what you want to but that's doesn't mean anything.... I will never go on any tour tere! The building is beautiful and they should have used it for something else!
As far as helping the people in the actual community.... Yeah , it hasn't! A place for the kiddies to go instead of gettin stoned, yeah epic fail!

I agree with most of these comments. Although it's a beautiful building that is a part of history that everyone should be able to enjoy, I will NEVER give that family my money. After a quick Google search any person with a brain wouldn't either. Not to mention she is the most rude person I've EVER had to deal with in my life!

I for one am pleased with what they are doing over there. Have you ever actually taken on of their historic tours? My husband and I did and we loved it. It was well presented, educational, and done in good taste. The haunted stuff isn't for us, but it does bring people into our town. I suggest you get to know more about what they offer before you judge them.

There are no speakers or trickery in the main building. The haunted house is in the old tb building and is rigged to scare people and it has actors in it as well. Take a tour, you can see what they are doing with the money they EARN.
