Very sad for the families who are left to suffer the losses. There are so many private plane crashes in that area of Wyoming. Makes you wonder what is causing all of them. The internet is full of stories of fatal crashes throughout that whole Laramie peak area. Seems very risky and dangerous even for experienced pilots.

I agree it is sad, but inexperience is the cause.
There is a HUGE difference between flying in Texas, Kansas or Minnesota and flying in Wy. Winds aloft can easily reach 50-100 mph, this combined with the effect of causing updraft on the windward side and downdrafts on the leeward side of the mtn range, set up these flat-land fliers into situations where they are unable to control the aircraft. Being overloaded, poor visibility, and icing conditions increase the odds they will make an unscheduled landing.
