Greedy real estate developers infect city gov'nmnt to the point that they don't think before they act. Look around you....the signs of half as_ed planning and hyper-spastic "rush for the tax pennies" are everywhere. Makes me sick to live around here......and yes I'm considering moving away.

...and when the state upgrades US 75, Glenpool residents will have to go through either Jenks or Sapulpa to get to their new city hall. Great planning!!!

Does anyone know which business they're talking about? If it's a long-time business, it can't be in the new shopping center...

The business in question was the RV dealership on 121st just west of the shopping center. Because it has a Sapulpa address, the Oklahoma Tax Commission was crediting the tax to Sapulpa, not Glenpool, according to Glenpool city officials.

If that's the motivating factor driving you to move away, then you're missing out on the bigger picture.

This isn't just affecting businesses. I live in Southern Reserve just off s 33rd & 104th west of H75. Try getting 911 to dispatch when your physical address is JENKS but your postal zip is SAPULPA. You better not be having a heart attack while the two cities try to figure out who is gonna go on the call. Ridiculous !

I think that before a new city hall is built, the roads need to be addressed. Also, our sales tax is outrageous. It needs to be lowered. For some reason, as soon as Walmart went in, the City officials started spending money like drunk sailors; i.e., new fire station (which WAS needed), new police cars, new city hall. As far as I can tell, nothing for the citizens of Glenpool and their pocketbooks.

This is one of the cheapest areas to live in our country. Sure it has it's downfalls.

I'm confident you'll find something to bit_ch about wherever you end up.

Glenpool just bought about 10 or so acres at 146th st. and south Elwood av. They just completed building new Fire and Police Stations with still ample room left for a city hall and convention center.
Why in the world are they buying extremely expensive land, about as far away from Glenpool and still be in the city limits,To build a Convention Center? When the only place you can even buy a pair of shoes in Glenpool is walmart.
Nobody shops Glenpool, Because there is nothing here to shop for.
Everyone drives to Tulsa to do their major shoping ,Dining out and Entertainment.

So what, most of the wealthiest people who live in the Jenks Public School District live inside of the Tulsa City limits.

When I lived in the North Hollywood Community of Los Angeles, the people who had zip codes which began with 916 got their mail through North Hollywood USPS branches. Studio City and Valley Village were actually apart of North Hollywood to begin with.

My older sister lives in a rather small town in SE Kansas and her daughter lives in a nearby small community. But, my sister said their zip codes are really Arma, Kansas zip codes. My great-nephew goes to school in Arma.

In New Jersey, a lot of small towns have the very same zip code.

Out of fairness, those zip code boundaries were drawn LONG BEFORE the cities of Glenpool, Jenks, Sapulpa and Bixby went out snatching (annexing) the land. Driving north on US 75 from Okmulgee, about a mile after you cross the Tulsa County line, you see a sign that says "Glenpool City Limits", even though you're in the Mounds zip code, and are closer to the communities of Mounds, Liberty Mounds and Hectorville than you are Glenpool. I think the city of Glenpool annexed all that land out there so the a_sshole Glenpool cops could run a speed trap on Hwy 75. That would be the only reason, because to my knowledge there are NO city services out there from Glenpool.
Close. Mounds is a city, Liberty is a town, and Hectorville is a CDP (community). Liberty Mounds is a school district and the sign on Highway 75 is misleading.

Now, as far as the Glenpool coppers being a_ssholes, why don't you tell us how you came into contact with them. Let me guess, you were speeding and got caught?

Don't blame the annexation on the Glenpool Police, they had nothing to do with it. Glenpool city government are the ones who annexed that in. The benefit that gets overlooked though is that Glenpool Fire responds to MVC's on the highway all the way to 201st and sometimes even further if they are feeling froggy. That works out good for the citizens since that section of highway was once under the jurisdiction of a volunteer department.

One ought to be able to use "Glenpool" as the city name on the address and use the full +4 zip code for the City Hall location. USPS mail would still get delivered.

Location addresses can also be confusing. While I still lived at the last complex I changed apartments. My street address number changed from 1355 to 1357 while my apartment number changed from 34 to 31. And all I did was move to the other side of the breezeway on the same side of the complex. When I moved, my mail was put into a different box and yet both of those mailboxes were on the very same post, along with 28 others.

Apartment 1 of the complex had 1325 as its location of the very same street.

The definition of the Spanish word "pendejo" is "hair that sprouts in the region of the pubis." That's the translation of what is found in my big thick Spanish language only dictionary.

Pendejo is slang for a "despicable person."

Speaking of post offices, the USPS moved the West Tulsa Post Office from historical West Tulsa to Red Fork, which used to have its own post office when it was a town before being annexed by Tulsa.

But, instead of calling then new Post Office the "Red Fork Station Post Office" or the "Southwest Tulsa Station Post Office," they called it the "West Tulsa Station Post Office."

But, the Town West Shopping Center is in Tulsa County and it has a SW Tulsa Zip Code, 74107; but, the city of Sapulpa has annexed it so that they could get the sales tax and property taxes from the people who live in the area or have businesses there.

Oh, I live well inside of the City Limits of SE Tulsa; but, I have a Broken Arrow phone number. In fact, all of the phone numbers in the Woodland Hills Mall that are not 1-800 type numbers are Broken Arrow phone numbers, too. That's because the phone service provider is Windstream.

It would be fair to say that I have been in contact with the Glenpool PD a few times, saying as how I've lived there for 20 years. From both first-hand accounts, and accounts from friends and family who live in the area, Glenpool cops are indeed pendejos.
As for the reasons why Glenpool annexed the area of Hwy 75 all the way to 201st Street, I highly doubt it was soley for the purpose of providing the fine residents of southwestern Tulsa county with Glenpool's *cough* fine fire & rescue services. They seized an opportunity to grab ahold of the 8 miles of highway frontage in order to reap the tax benefits should that area become more developed in the future. With sales tax so high in the mostly-welfare bedroom community, no one wants to develop there... so the City of Glenpool, in all their vast knowledge, kinda shot themselves in the foot on that one.
Glenpool PD has quality officers, and as the sales tax income increases, it will only get better. Glenpool is on a rocket ship ride right now and it's great to see. Don't dwell in the past. "welfare bedroom community"? Look at Pecan Estates and the other new developments. Glenpool is rising and changing its image. Welcome to the new reality.
